A good book to read on this subject is called American Gospel by John Meacham.
yes it is and no it isnt. This is one of the most highly misinterpreted notions about the finding of America. It is true that the US as well as most of the western world was built on judeo christian principals, however that does not mean that we were ever a pious or holier than thou society like some people try to make it seem like. Most of our founding fathers were agnostic, some were athiest, and some were what would be considered modern day christians, but never did they intend to have a highly religious government or society
Verry interesting!!!
Religulous really missed the mark at many levels. I will just submit that fundamentalists christians...atleast the stereotype are politicians. They do not go to church, don't know the 10 commandments, dang sure don't keep them and do an overall poor job of representing the Christian faith. If any one has questions and want to get them answered without the drama, there are a ton of bible based churches that teach in love, because ultimately it's what is about. The truth can ALWAYS be questioned. If you don't ask questions...something's up with you.
