i think he tries to finish
but then again i think he doesnt just to make sure he doesnt get flash ko'd
so i dont really know the answer
only he does
he does try to finish, but he also knows when to play it safe and not take big risks. i think its also down to the people he fight being too cautious as well, they dont want to get taken down and submitted or KO'd by him, they want to win the belt however they can, and they try and play GSP at his own game most of the time, so semi-boring fights are pretty common for him, but they arent entirely his fault.
What he did to Fitch and Hardy would have finished a lot of guys they're just tough bastards.
He threw a million jabs against Kos. He knows he is up on points and the judges favor the face of the UFC.
I think he finishes when he can do so, I think he likes to play it safe most the time tho.
He does try to finish, but he gives up on finishes too quickly.
This is true too. I was wondering what he was doing. I'm like, dude, he's blind on one side. He's hurt on that one side. He's defending that ONE side! So fake to that side and clock him on the other side where he's not defending as much. Or set up a head kick to his blind side. I know wounded dogs can be dangerous, but sometimes that dog is done for the night. I think he could've finished Kos if he tried. :\
because the objective is to win, not finish.
Alot of things in that article that are largely conjecture, such as the "blood slosh" theory causing a KO (that really isnt how you get KO'd) and how a jab has "no risk". I do love it though, when guys who grapple a tiny bit, watch MMA alot, and dont really have any practical experience go around second guessing top level fighters (and apparently miss the right crosses and head kicks GSP throws).
The point of being a writer is to be controversial. Nate is a smart guy and one of the most analytical people I've ever talked to when it comes to MMA. He knew exactly what kind of response this article would get. lol. It has like 70 comments on the site. GSP is actually his favorite fighter.
