Butterfly guard advice needed

Hi guys. I'm 70kg and I'm trying to work my butterfly guard, and it works well against everyone except this one guy who weighs 95kg. He negates my guard by pushing his head onto my chest (preventing me from stretching him out and then sweeping him when he postures up) and bearhugs my legs so that he can roll into side control (which is like being flattened by a steam roller!). Is there an official name for this type of pass so I can look up some counters? Or should I abandon butterfly against larger opponents?

try not to get flantened out always try to keep seated up. hand fight for controls under hooks over hooks ect. to avoid him bear hugging your legs and passing you need to pummel for a underhook. how ever if this fails his hands are occupied so his neck is open to attack. marcelo guilotine done deal lol

be more active with your butterfly guard and keep him off balance. work to your sweeps faster going from left to right. when you get him off- balance use arm drags to get to the back or the reaper set to get to ankle locks!

I like to use my head as a third limb, to drive their posture back. Usually I grind it anywhere below their chin because if I'm not pushing back then they're flattening me out. My biggest problem with the butterfly guard is in keeping my butterfly hooks sticky and keeping that upward instep pressure constant. Too often when I adjust, I back off on the pressure and get passed.

Almost sounds like he's using the buttock compressor on you (http://www.10thplanetjj.com/techniques/mts-12-pijamas/). Maybe even a fly over pass without the "flying part" I forget what MTS that is. Got it! http://www.10thplanetjj.com/techniqu...hon-challenge/

Keep your head under his chin or in his chest, and keep fighting the head position battle. Also, it sounds like you are letting him drop to your hips, freeze them, and pass, so try to work underhooks in deep. That way, when he goes low, you can drag him back up
