Pretty good, pretty good. This is not a diss on Jose Aldo who is top 3 in the world but I'm sure he would have taken less shots to the head in round 5 of his fight with Hominick if he developed his RG instead of double wrist control.
I can't believe this is still a debate at all. Compare what happened when each was on his back.
Rubber Guard Player: Offensive, and taking little to no punishment
Standard Guard Player: Pure defensive, still taking punishment.
Need I say more?
^^ Alot of sense!
The rubber guard certainly allows you to be more active and many times forces your opponent into opportunities to attack while in the standard guard you many times have a harder time of advancing your position and of being offensive from each advanced position.
The same thing happened in Vinny Maghalhaes' last fight, he used rubber guard and didn't get hit once while in the position.
Very nice. Too bad he didn't work harder to get to the stock when he had his hook in.
Nick has pretty damn good posture control, he now needs to focus on clearing the neck and hitting the options off chill dog :)
