an idea for this forum
i have a private student who's been with me for three years. he is a big name in the gun world, he is a police officer, his consulting company trains special forces units, has been an instructor at americas premiere gun school, and most importantly, he runs a gun forum.
the rules on his forum.
1. you must use your real name as your forum name
2. you must send him a scanned copy of your i.d.
3. law enforcement and special forces must send their credentials
4. no one but law enforcement, military, or approved personnel can post on his forum
the reason for all of this is that they are talking about gear and tactics for situation where ones life is on the line, thus, they dont want people getting bad information from their site that gets them killed.
i realize that we are not dealing with such sensitive issues, but i think that some fidelity would be good. if someone wants to post as a black, brown, or purple belt, they should have to provide proof of their rank and lineage to a forum moderator before being able to put rank next to their name. and if someone wants to post as a black belt, they should have to do so by name. in doing this, we could make sure that we keep the credibility here high.
what do you think
-
no bad idea..it just a forum...what are we sandbagging post..lol if they are fake it will come out soon or later as the interenet sow everything..lo
-
I dont think anyone will have a problem proving their rank if theyre truly legit
-
totally unnecessary, we dont have any problems the way it is
-
perfect idea it would be a shame if jiu jitsu got watered down like tae kwon do(i suck at it but i still earned it!)
so i would say lineage, current(and previous) school age and name
-
i left out my last name because of competion reasons ( i post alot of my own game etc and dont want to be found under a google search when they post tournament brackets
-
Good idea. Will a picture getting promoted suffice?

Real name's would be good. Eddie asked everybody to do that! I don't think there is to much of a problem with rank. Somebody always correct's the newbie's on the site. As far as the frauds (purple, brown and black belts) we usually find out pretty quick and SWARM on those guy's!

yeah, thinks are perfectly fine the way they are. liars just get bent over and gangraped for a few weeks then deleted :)

Eddie asked everyone to use their real names when the website changed its format. I don't see anything wrong with showing and proving your lineage, especially if you are posting as a brown or black belt and giving people technical advice.
