Best Headgear?
I see Eddie using some sweet looking headgear (no hard plastic) in the MTS videos. Does anyone know what kind he's got? Anyone with an opinion please add your $0.02 on what you think is the best quality headgear - all recommendations are appreciated!

For current headgear that's still being made, Brute Quad III is amazing. Lowest profile of any of the higher end head gear which means it has minimal to no chance of hurting your training partners *none of mine have complained once when I asked em* and it lets you get out of guillotines easier than the less streamlined headgear. I also like the Brute Shockwave Adult, but they haven't made those in a long time, and honestly, the built in "ear guards" for those are softer than the Brute Quad III which means they CAN and DO collapse from time to time. Also the Brute Quad IIIs are very very hot when you roll. Both are great though, but I use the Brute Quad IIIs. Awesome headgear. Cliff Keen Tornadoes are good too to protect your ears, but they protrude out farther than the Quad IIIs. Cauliflower ear is not fun, and having to drain it yourself is even less fun. Enjoy your headgear brother!

Sorry correction, the Brute Shockwaves are very hot when you roll with them. The Quad III's are nice and "airy" feeling.

Thanks for the info guys!

havnt tried the brute shockwaves .. but ive worn cliff keen tornadoes for years and are my favorite. tried the lower profile twister and it slid everytime... major fail.
At first i disliked the ck tornado because slipping your head out of stuff is seriously decreased, but i realized after training with them for so long i developed serious head defense because i couldnt rely on sweat and slippage to get out of guillotines, arm triangles, etc...
CK Tornado definite good buy!

I know this thread is a little older but...... does anyone else have $0.02 to contribute? I will be buying some headgear soon.

Just to reinforce my love for my Brute Quad III's, I'll reinsert my 2 cents, making it 4 cents. Most low profile headgear for JJ that's currently being produced. Minimal slippage *which only happens when my partner actually grabs the headgear.* Keeps the cauliflower away =D.

Thank you. The only stipulation my wife gave me when I said I want to learn BJJ is that I have to wear a head gear.
