Was Helio correct?
i can't remember where i read it but i read like a 60 page argument about the "luck" involved in a knockout
if you truly are throwing the strike or slam to cause maximum damage then it isn't lucky imo
i've knocked alot of people out... mostly at work (former bouncer) and i'd only say 2 were lucky 1 i didn't think the punch would land it was just one in a combo i'd worked on that morning the other was a judo throw where he landed awkwardly .... both knockouts i've scored in the ring certainly weren't luck... i took a pounding to get the chin opening and then i hit it as hard as i could
lucky is if you like accidentally throw a knee and your shin hits him and kos him
you didnt try and ko him with your shin but you still did it
not really... if you throw a head kick and he steps forward into your knee rather than your shin... you've still thrown with intent and timing to cause damage.... Think TUF3 Rory Singer vs Solomon , Rory meant to knock him out with a headkick.... and did wasn't luck it just ended up being poorly executed
ya thats what i was thinking
i dont think anything in mma can be lucky really
unless you close your eyes and start swinging
but then again you are swinging in hopes that you will knock him out.....
say you punch 3 different people with intentions of a K.O. but only 1 goes down. would you call that skill or accident?
definately skill.... you've suceeded once and the other two are either down to a fault in execution whether technique or timing or the dude's chin... i mean rampge landed the same left hook on Liddell Silva and Henderson....Henderson's granite chin helped him survive...the other two caught some z's
you throw lots of punching all with intentions of a K.O. but 1 out of the 100 get the K.o. skill or accident?
Joliet is a famous prison is it not? sorry just saw your location
lol... well they say throw a hundred punches you'll get one perfect
i mean that's hard to say every one of the hundred punches would have to be thrown with the exact same technique speed body movement timing on the same opponent before you could say the 1 winning punch was lucky, or was it just a matter of time?
if the intent is there and the result happens...surely that is skill?
Most people that dont train, they try to get the KO with every punch. Whereas a trained person might set it up. As far as luck though, a fool can lower his head, close his eyes, and windmill and maybe ge a KO, and that'd def be luck. lol
