I train Gracie Barra once a week Gi , And have been training 10th planet for 3 months now. I'm thinking of competing in Aug at Lutador ...I don't know many submissions yet were only tought to defend in Gracie Barra as a white belt . I've been working on half guard and mission control a lot and sweeps from half and full guard. Should I wait or go ahead and go for it? Thanks
hmm.. there are novice divisions and what not.. but one thing you ll find is crazy sandbagging. id say you wait till you got 6 mos under your belt and rotate in with new schools/students.
I always learn soooo much in competition and in my opinion it isnt about winner or losing, just progressing.
Thats what I'm thinking , I would like to get the fill and there are Mens Beginner No-GI Open Division and Mens Intermediate No-GI Open Division @ LUTADOR CHALLENGEQuote:

Tell me about it ... We learn some submissions but are not aloud to use them when we roll. Atleast thats the way it is where I take Gi . I feel like its crippling because when I get to a good position I really struggle. But learning and working the 10th planet system is helping tremendously , from New York I can go into a gogoplata or a omoplata pretty well. ThanksQuote:

Learning such an aggressive system like 10th PJJ has to help tip the scale back in the right direction. Rolling with out submissions occasionally can be a pretty benificial especially if you're rolling against someone who isn't as good as you. They don't get too discouraged and you get to tighten up some of your positions that you're not the best at but doing that all of the time would be pretty boring IMO.
Where I train is Gracie Barra and we have around 35 signed up for Gi Jiu jitsu ,But only 8-10 show for class... And they are all Blue and purple belts, So I roll with people way better then me right now. I actually rarely roll with a white belt. Even the guys I practice the 10th planet system with are blue belts. Makes wonder how I'd do against another white belt. ThanksQuote:
