My favorite sweep is the single leg X-Guard entry by Marcelo Garcia. Its high percentage and leads to other avenues or sub's.
^that
X-guard is awesome if youve put the reps in. I personally like to try Jason's Granby roll knee-bar from there or use it as a chance to work on my wrestling and work for a single.
Hook sweep! master it.
Pull guard, and if your opponent stays standing up, lean back until your upper back touches the floor, grab both ankles and push your hips forward. Use the momentum of your opponent falling backwards to pull yourself into mount (or stay put and work for a heel hook). Pretty basic but I use it all the time (about 4 times last night in fact!), especially if my opponent tries to stand up in full guard.
True story. It's worth way more than you'll be paying :).
I either tie up for a De La Riva thing or just hit a high outside ankle lock where I kick one leg forward while chopping down on their hip with my other foot.
X guard is great from that position for sweeps and like others have said very high percentage once you put the reps in. Personally I like to go right into De La Riva guard from there and depending on their defense and/or knowledge of DLR I will either transition into what, at my gym, we call the three point sweep or transition into X guard and look to sweep or attack from there. If you get your DLR hook with your left leg on their right leg, your left hand cupping behind their right ankle (same leg you have the DLR hook on), your right hand should be controlling their left wrist (you can control their right wrist but I prefer to control the wrist opposite of your DLR hook, and your right leg either checking their left hip or putting pressure on their left knee or thigh...that is the basic DLR guard position I like to use. From that position to execute the "3 point sweep" you keep your hands in the same position they are in in DLR guard (left hand behind right ankle, right hand wrist control on your opponents left wrist) then quickly unhook your DLR hook putting your left foot on your opponents right hip and simultaneously put your right foot behind their left leg hooking the top of your foot behind their Achilles tendon then push on their right hip with left leg and at the same time pull their left arm with your right hand while doing the same pulling motion with your right foot behind their left ankle to execute the sweep. Once they fall keep ahold of their arm and then stand up and start looming to pass. I hope this made sense and hopefully helps you out! It's one of my "money" sweeps when my opponent is standing and im on my back.
