Tweaked Elbow Advice

I had "tweaked" the elbow, or more specifically, hurt my elbow during rolling at the tricep insertion. It's been that way for about 3 or 4 weeks now, and got worse on at my last Hotbox training from what I think is the Marcelo pass *where they put your own arm behind your back.* I'm about 99.999% not the muscle or joint, but the connective tissue between the tricep and bone at the tricep insertion *sorry, I forgot the name of that ligament/tendon.*
Any suggestions on how to heal it up quick? And if I should still train with it? The pain ranges from 1-3 when I move it certain ways, which isn't a killer pain, but I don't know if it's my body's way of saying "hold off on training" or if I should just work through the pain. I have a competition coming up on July 16 marking the Miami Hotbox's 2nd official team tournament and I want to represent and represent well. I'm 100% all ears and eyes for helpful advice.

The best thing i can think of is to cut off your dick.

Mines swollen as hell too. But im headed to practice anyway.

Take some aleve, that should help if there is any inflammation. Other than that maybe take some fish oil. Sorry I can't help you out really :-/.

does ulnar collateral ring a bell? i jacked my elbow up drilling arm bar escapes with someone who didnt know what 60% meant. It hurts only when i throw things or get my arm put in to an americana or positions of the sort. my OT said i was lucky that nothing major happened and just missed needing tommy johns surgery. im sure you can keep rolling, just take it easy and avoid whatever moves make it hurt as well as warn your sparring partner. also tap early!

For conective tissue it is best to use ice and heat with ibuprofen (anti-inflamitory) immediately following that type of injury however we seem to be beyond that point. If that is the case than you should rest it, this would be the time to practice one arm techniques (make sure to strap your arm to your torso to avoid it being caught or tempted). I unfortunately have a tear in the rotator cuff of my right shoulder and do much of my rolling with one arm to put off surgery for as long as possible. Continue taking Ibuprofen or its generic counter part since this will decrease the inflamation and irritation of the tissue. If you don't wish to take the opportunity to train one armed (you might not have two good arms when actually being attacked), than you can roll at half speed but any further burden to the tissue will only make things last longer.

I got it, I read it as the guy "passing" gets "his" arm put behind his back, which is why I questioned it.

I'm pretty sure everyone that practices jiu jitsu has sore elbows at some point in their training. It's all been covered here already. Ibuprofen and icing the joint is all you can do, accompanied by some rest. When you train, communicate well with who you are rolling with and let them know your elbow is jacked. Your partner will hopefully be willing to roll light and watch out for that elbow. Train smart.
