Fans have been waiting for the announcement of the first UFC five-round non-title fight since the organization confirmed it would add them last month and now they have it.

Middleweights Chris Leben and Mark Munoz will make history at UFC 138 when they compete in the first five-round non-title fight in company history in the main event of the Spike TV show in Birmingham, England, MMA Fighting reports.

Both fighters will look to use each other as a stepping stone toward a middleweight championship shot.

Leben (26-7) has been riding a hot streak of late, winning four of his last five fights. He most recently knocked out Wanderlei Silva in 28 seconds at UFC 132. He's also bested the likes of Yoshihiro Akiyama and Aaron Simpson in that span.

Munoz (11-2) has been on a roll since moving to middleweight, going 6-1 at 185 pounds. He has won three straight since dropping a split decision to Yushin Okami last August. Munoz narrowly defeated Demian Maia by decision in an extremely competitive fight at UFC 131 last month

Ive had a couple friends try to say 5 round main events if a bad idea. I disagree 100%! And if you think that youre a fuckhead!

Conditioning and Technique will show big time in the last 2 rounds. I feel bad for the guys who gas in the 3rd round now.

I don't like the idea of all main events being 5 rounders. I think they should have just made 'marquee' matchups 3 rounds with a 10 minute first round (ala pride).

I dont think they need to do all main events but certain fights, like number one contenders or grudge matches or rubber matches...

Well I think ppv should at least be 5 round main events. It always seemed like a jip with main event 3 rounders
