Variation on Truck Position and Submission

Hey, guys. A little while back, my BJJ instructor showed a position / submission that is very similar to the Truck. I just realized that a video of him showing the position is on youtube.

I don't think I've seen this variation before, but who knows. It should fit well into the game of anyone that uses the 10th planet system. Hope you like it.

Oh, and if it is already used and has a name, then try not to flame too hard. Not trying to revolutionize the system here, just sharing something I think you guys might like.

I can't say I'm an expert on the truck or any other 10P technique for that matter lol. I did dig the video though, thanks Sir!

I don't see any variation really.. That is the truck and it just looks like a personal preference crotch-ripper. Maybe I'm way off though.

I like the submission where he grabs his knee, but this isn't really a variation. I've seen Braulio Estima do the crotch ripper like that too

Like Jay said, Its not new. Versions of the Banana Splits and Crotch Ripper have been around a long time.

I will say this, it is very dangerous to leave your knee/leg on the floor (his right leg in the video) it is very easy to flip the truck (we call it the Suzuki) from that position.

I called it a variation because I have only seen the truck demonstrated with both hands gripping on top of the calves. In this case, he is threading his left arm between the legs and ending up with a kimura-type grip with his arms around the leg.

I'm not a 10th Planet practitioner, so I won't be as up to date on the techniques of the system. I knew there was a good chance that guys using the system and doing the truck 1000's of times, would have a number of ways to get there, but I figured there may be a few guys on the forum who haven't seen this and would enjoy it.

I log on to the forums often in hopes that people will post interesting positions, so I want to do my part to share stuff I think people may like.

I just found out that my instructor was picked to be the 'expert of the month' on BJJ Weekly this month. His technique of the month hasn't been posted yet, but when it is, I'll post a link to it out here.

There are similar versions in Sambo, and I'm pretty sure you'll find them in Catch as well.
