My first 2 Tournaments - Videos

I have been training in jiu jitsu about a year now. I have been training/learning the 10th planet system for about 4 months now.

One question I have is about working lockdown sweeps or transitions on larger opponents. My last match yesterday in the absolute division was against a much larger guy. I pulled half guard. I worked jaws of life and got double under hooks, but after that I was unable to do anything. He was smashing my head, staying heavy on the hip I had in lockdown, and was keeping his knee close to my body. So I really couldn't whip him up. I couldn't work the stomp, and I couldn't shrug his arms off my head.

I know I'm not great at these techniques yet, but I was wondering if you guys had any tips or pointers for dealing with much larger opponents.

Check out MTS 22 (or is it 15?) and the whip down to shrug. Perfecting that whip will save you tons of frustration. And worse case scenario bail to butterfly and work from there.

Also check out the fat whip, perfect thing for assisting in whipping up bigger guys. When I pull halfguard on bigger guys I try to work to prison guard, butterfly, or rubberguard as fast as possible. Don't get stuck under big guys lol
