Stretching
Hey guys,
I've recently decided to take my stretching seriously and I have a question.
Since deep stretching causes micro tears in the muscles is it advisable to take days off to allow for proper recovery? I ask because Even though I've been trying to "do it right"
(eating clean, staying hydrated, warming up properly, taking fish oil and glucosamine chondroitin) I'm experiencing soreness in the pelvic/groin area. (butterfly stretches are my nemesis) Nothing too serious, just enough to make it suck at first the next time I go into the stretch. I'm a stay @ home dad with pretty serious work ethic so I've been stretching twice a day for about an hour each time...maybe I'm overdoing it?

If you are sore at all then you are stretching too far. I did an hour a day routine for 6 months every single day and never had any pain, only progress.

Yep, sounds about right. Stupid butterfly stretch wanted to be stubborn so I forced it all the way.
Thanks much.

Sometimes you just need someone else to verify that you're an idiot.;)

To me, the fact that you came to 10thplanetjj.com to figure out what went wrong makes you far from an idiot. ;)

Yeah just stretch as often as you can until you feel sore. When you feel sore, take some time off lol. When i was in my big stretching phase, i would stretch for 30 mins at least, 2 or 3 times a day. If you stick to it (watching for the soreness of course), you'll be flexible in no time :)
