Ahhh the power of the net. Okay looks great Michael!!! A couple things though. Once you lock it down, keep those legs stretched as you whip him up, then to your right(in this case). Curled legs on a whip up generally end up in a pass to side control since the opponent will hip switch and slip that right leg past the lock down grip(in a sideways motion).
Hands can whip up from under the pits or both on his hips(whichever feels more comfortable).
But looks good nonetheless.

thanks rick!
Hey Michael, just wanted to give my 2cents. When teaching lockdown I have found that peeps remember it easily as over over under. I make sure that anytime we are doing anything that involves lockdown I say it as I put it on. Also, for your left leg straighten it out as much has you can keep your toes pointed towards your head. It will make your lockdown much tighter without expending much energy. As you whip up you must maintain knee sqeeze, and keep their leg off the mat. You may kno this already, but I thought it was a golden nugget of info from Johnny Ho out of 10P San Fran. Maintain whatever percentage of squeeze that you can sustain for long periods of time and gradually increase the squeeze. Example if you can sustain 10% throughout the entire time without gassing then start with that. I promise you it will increase naturally over time. Here is what you dont want to do-Have your lockdown relaxed then squeeze, relaxed squeeze. Maintain constant pressure. Keep up the good work bro. From a disabled vet to a soldier I thank you my friend.
ok ill try that out and work on the small tech stuff to improve everyone's game thanks brandon
i have 4-8 guys coming in to class right now... we are gonna be here awhile maybe more will come into class as word spreads, they are more interested in jiu jitsu im just giving them the knowledge i have and showing them the best i can
A critical component of the technique is missing. After you trap his far leg with your outside leg, bring your ankles together and keep squeezing your knees together. As you extended your legs, extend both legs equally. Your ankles stay together to your full leg extent when done correctly. Bollinger stresses this.
thanks mark, ya i noticed that when i watched it again and for sure gonna correct it right away in the gym on monday, thanks!
I just quickly browsed through the other comments so I am sorry if someone mentioned this already, but make sure as your the guy on the bottom doing the whip up you are keeping your head tucked in tight. This helps to prevent guys who are whicked fast with darces etc from having that available option. Squeeze the shit out of the lower ribs and keep your ear tucked tightly against your opponent. From a strictly self defense point this makes it much harder for your attacker to strike you. I often am nearly ear to belly.
Personally from my experience the lower you squeeze down the ribs the more energy you will drain from your opponent (lower ribs squeeze hurts like mad hell and guys who have a black belt level squeeze can send you squirming to a tap from this alone.) and the tighter you keep your head in the more protected you are against guys striping you off, darces, punches, etc.
