I think we can learn from people, even if they don't have direct experience in the ring, or mainstream mma training. There are always useful techniques in almost every ma, some have more combat applicable techniques than others.
But I think machida and silva, both top tier fighters, and the best in the world, would know a lot better than I do if they are learning something or not.
