Why should you care?:
It is the final frontier when it comes to guards. You master every guard and they go north south on you.... oops! Inverted guard time.
Or you just say F* it.. Attack right off the bat... go Inverted.
Add this to your leg lock game, and look out!

Many lightweight, high level competitors are doing this with a lot of success in the tourneys. It's not only for the lightweights however, so we should at least be aware of it as an option, and how to defend against it[see Pablo P.'s defense on youtube].

If you can get to both days, good. But definitely, the NoGi one on Sunday should be in your sights.

I wish I lived in LA

We need to understand the mendes bros, rubens "cobrinha" charles, caio terra, roberto "cyborg" abreu, jeff glover, and jt torres. There are others, but these guys come to mind when thinking about inverted ish.

I agree that this is the final frontier in BJJ. It's the missing transitional piece in BJJ. Going upside down makes it way easier to control scrambles as well. I've been adding this slowly into my game and I'm becoming more and more comfortable and rolling just gets easier and easier. It just makes your guard practically impossible to pass.

Justin, very true.. that's awesome you got to putting it in your game.. I'm sure you've been getting people frustrated. Hey btw, shouldn't that be a blue belt now? It should have been a long time ago, but now there's no mistaken brotha. More inverted coming your way too... Caio Terra to the islands in December.

Inverted De La Riva is now my go to when someone is standing. I've been working inverted guard subs for a while now (armbars, omoplatas, triangles) but I still have trouble with Cyborgs tornado guard. Me and Shawn (the four stripe blue belt, just got his purple) just started toying with it but it's going to take some time. I'll change my belt in a bit, I want to enjoy being a white belt for just a little longer haha

Where did you hear about Caio Terra? Do you know which island he's coming to? Rickson was just here and he put on a free seminar that we weren't invited to until 15 minutes before it started lol I was so pissed off because it was too late.

That's awesome Justin. Yeah do it standing as well as one knee up in attack position. Shawn had good tech too so you guys will have good training partners for picking that up.

Damn, I can't fly out to Oahu just for a seminar. Oh well.

So I'm dying to roll and there's no places open on Sundays except for this one gym. I get there and there's a seminar going on. The instructor asks me if I would like to join in. I ask who it is and he says "Scott Epstein" and I'm like UHHHH YEAHHH I DO? lol Great surprise today.
