The Spaghetti Wrangler

Hey guys this is a technique that we think has never been done before and so we named it "The Spaghetti Wrangler" for lack of a better name. It works very well in the given scenario. I'm recording and Henry Martinez our head instructor is showing the technique. Let us know what you think...

Yeah I guess it is more of an advanced technique. The tricky part is sitting up after you trap the arm. Try it. It might help you escape North South someday...

At first I got real excited because I thought you were going to do a shoulder lock from north south top that I use all the time. The judo name is ude garuma I think. Ever use it?

Ude garami I didn't know it by that name but I looked it up and I do know the technique. Are you referring to trapping the arm when the guy on bottom turns on his side?

Maybe... The way I do it is just based on them clasping their hands behind my back. I hug one of their elbows like I'm trying to do a heel hook on it as I pass my other side leg to that side into what looks like judo side control with their arm stuck to my body. Then I scoot just a bit towards their legs and throw my near side leg between their legs, cross my feet underneath, and rotate my body backwards. Ends up looking like this:

Crazy. No it isn't the same. I've never done tried that. I will try it today. Can you post a video maybe?

I'll shoot one tonight, on the condition that you post one back with your purple belt awesomeness doing it!

I will say watch it when you first adjust your leg. If you stay there too long you'll get bucked. It's a VERY sneaky move though. I've had a ton of success with it. I got it from Karo Parysian's Judo for MMA book.
