Starting jiu jitsu in another state?

My plan was to get a job and join American Top Team but my grandpa is sick and it is getting worse, so my mom wants me to go up to ohio and take care of him.

So i kinda don't want to go because i have zero friends in ohio and also won't have a job, but its my grandpa and i'm the only one that can do it.

So for me going to ohio to help my grandpa, as a reward my cousin said she would pay for jiu jitsu class up there. So i will be starting Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

The thing is. I'm so intrested in rubber gaurd, I even started stretching my legs to be more flexible. I can almost put both legs behind my back. Should i just take the free lessons?

Its a place called team bundy MMA. The main instructer is a purple belt under Pedro sauer.

Yeah I;d take the free classes too, and then practice whatever RG and Twister that u can in between with a willing student...

Where at in Ohio? There is a JJ Machado affiliation in Cinci

If you are new to the sport do the free classes. the one thing i learned is that you need basics first before you start learning the hard shit, rubber guard and other 10th planet positions are more advanced and can be hard for a new comer to learn. I my self have only gotten into some lockdown and spiderweb but nothing past that yet. My instructer learned some 10th planet but still teaches us that basics are key to becoming a great grappler. His famous quote he tells our class is "POSITION BEFORE SUBMISSION" which is the same concept.
