Hi,
in a few weeks i'd like to start a little project. Im going to pimp my ride, and it's going to be a 10th planet custom bike. If you have any suggestions/ideas, please post them. If you're a real badass, you post a picture with a concept!

I used to build single speeds. Are you thinking fixy, free wheel, flip flop?
Do you have a frame picked out? Some classic cromolly frames are cheap and dont weigh much once they are stripped down.
Are you gonna buy wheels or have some built up?
Are you a toe strap pedal, Bear trap, clip in person?
Id love to answer any questions i can help with. You can make a decent single speed for about $200. And a dope one for $800 or $900. It depends on what your donor bike is or if you start from scratch.

this is a full 26in cruiser i made also. 3 pc cranks, dk pedals, tripplecrown forks, did the welding and bondo work. A fun cruiser when i lived in the city.

A 10th Planet custom bike, vice a regular 10th Planet bike? I didn't know it involved the bicycle industry. Pretty interesting.
i got the old singlespeed from my brother and its free wheel right now, but thought about changing to a flip flop. im just getting into that stuff so i dont have much of an idea. ill get some information first hand from a shop nearby.
Surly makes a nice flip flop. I have laced them up on really nice Velio rims and cheaper Mavic. They have sealed bearings so you dont have to worry about setting the tension properly on the races. I usually ran free wheel and a back brake. Its less braking power but i rode to the bars and a hand full of brake can = a face full of gravel. The only trick is make sure the chain line is right on to the front chain ring. So take the time and dish the rim properly. You will save on wear and makes it a quiter ride.
