Whiskey and Chokes Podcast #3
Nice...
Way cool podcast, I appreciate all the props tremendously :-)
^^Thanks for listening, Eddie!
The new one is up:
Podcast #4: whiskey, drinking, growing up as non-Mormons in a Mormon neighborhood, the hotness of Czech girls, and a green fairy crime scene.
I tried to listen but it wouldn't work..
I enjoyed this podcast guys.
I want to offer you some constructive advice. Since you are seeming to pick up listeners from around the globe and you plan on continuing with the podcast (which you should) I would suggest you run audio compression.
The reason for that is because as you guys move through your conversation, there are parts that are very quiet and I have to turn up the volume just to hear you, and then you start laughing and my co-workers are like "wtf is he listening to?".
Audio compression will put everything at the same ceiling, smoothing everything out to maintain a constant volume level. You can run it live as you record if you're tech-savvy, or you can record your podcast and compress it afterwards, before posting it. (MTS Episodes could use audio compression as well, jus sayin, Master Eddie. ;))
Just trying to help! Keep it up! I enjoyed hearing about the thread on the underground where Eddie was yanking their Gi's. lol!
Thanks for the feedback, Kurzy!
We really appreciate you listening and we'll look into audio compression.
Keep it up!
:)
Here's the new one:

Kurzy,
We added some audio compression to try to address some of the issues you cited.

Whiskey and Chokes Podcast #7: Picking up Chicks
PODCAST #7: PICKING UP CHICKS
In this one, we talk about picking up chicks and drink coffee (because picking up chicks is serious business).
Whiskey and Chokes Podcast #8: The Apocalypse
We talk about how to make hard cider, pre-Columbian exploration of North America, Crown Royal Maple, how the internet affects access to the truth, hunting, selectivity in news coverage, how our perspective on history evolves, the possible demise of Grapplers Quest, and lifting weights for grappling.
Get these on itunes, so I can listen at work.
Hey Quetzalcoatl,
Very awesome name. I was obsessed with everything Aztec when I was a kid.
We would love to be on itunes. Unfortunately, last summer itunes imposed a byte range request requirement on servers hosting podcasts. So, that basically means you now have to pay someone to host your podcast if you want it on itunes.
If it helps at all, there is an easy way to download our podcast instead of streaming it off our site. If you go to the right part of the player on the particular podcast on our website and click on the little symbol that looks like Greek columns and then click on "Full Version at Internet Archive." There is a spot to download it there.
Whiskey and chokes Podcast #9: FOOD
We talk about exploding fish oil pills, phallus shaped vitamins, glycemic load, the warriors diet, intermittent fasting, alcohol, poly vs. mono vs. saturated fats, mercury in fish, sugar, MSG, high fructose corn syrup, oxalic acid in kale shakes, the frozen burrito diet, and losing 50 lbs in a year.
http://www.conservationmagazine.org/...oiliest-catch/ about fish oil, kind of.
^^Good article. I never knew exactly which fish those fish oil capsules were coming from, but I figured it had to be causing some kind of problem in some oceanic ecosystem.
Yeah, I thought it was interesting. I had just assumed fish oil was a byproduct of processing many types of fish and was sold off to make pills.
Great podcast by the way.
Thanks, Aaron!
Whiskey and Chokes Podcast #10: Horse Meat
We drink coffee and Bruichladdich Black Art while talking about horse meat, Keenan and JT Torres going to Atos, Michael Jordan, cleaning squid, the Salt Lake Grappling Club, dudes doing karate practice on our walls, Marcelo Garcia, and being challenged by beginner/intermediate level grapplers.
Its funny how true the quiet guys are the killers. A guy visited my gym from a Cesar affiliate, and he was super nice and respectful, totally wrecked me. Eventually he admitted he had been training for fifteen years never said his belt level. I guess it just shows how training humbles you over time.
Whiskey and Chokes Podcast #11: Page and Balvenie
Balvenie 12 year Doublewood, Josh Barnett, fried eggs on burgers, grappling clubs as social clubs, Rhonda Rousey, Jeff Monson, Iceland, Irish Americans, sinkholes, Bathhouses, gayness, belt tests, and Utah gyms.
I'm really enjoying this food episode.
Speaking of Podcasts in the 10th Planet family...
I recently created "Camera Work" a podcast about photography and the struggles photographers face in finding work and finding their own voice. We discuss a lot of principles that are in line with what I feel Eddie / 10th Planet represents. Things like, having an open mind, being able to praise another person, being able to admit you were wrong, being on a constant search for knowledge. I've quoted mentioned at least 3 times on the podcast already, I think. If you have a chance to check out the full episodes on iTunes, they can be found here:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/...593371228?mt=2
Also, we put a video version each week as well, although sometimes the video version is incomplete. You can view the first 20 minutes of my favorite episode, #3 on video here. The full 60 minute version is on iTunes. In this episode we discuss similarities between picking up chicks and picking up clients:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6toFTea1RBg
In the iTunes version of this podcast, we go much deeper into this conversation. What was interesting to me when I made this connection (between picking up girls and picking up clients) was that I hadn't really learned any "new" psychology since college. That was my first and last exposure to psych. They teach you about personality types and defensive mechanisms like fight or flight and stuff like that. Then you graduate, and you aren't really exposed to that stuff any more. Reading "The Game" and studying videos from username "RSDFREETOUR" or anything from "Real Social Dynamics" gave me brand new ways of interacting with people. Fascinating stuff.
Glad to hear it, Kurzy!
Very interesting discussion!
This interface between PUA psych. theory and business interactions is something I have seen come up a lot. As an attorney, I used to notice it all the time when new clients would come in to talk to us about representing them. In a great number of ways, the traits and behaviors that PUA guys aspire to are the same ones that would win clients.
Yeah you guys touched on a lot of stuff that I am working my way through right now. Originally when I started lifting weights it was strictly to supplement my strength for jitz. It has turning into a mix now, of strength traingin but I am also trying to sculpt. I don't want to call it "bodybuilding" because I am not trying to get massive size or anything, but I am trying to put some muscle on for sure. Lean muscle.
So I am eating like a horse, 5 or 6 meals a day, trying to provide building blocks for new muscle growth. But it was interesting hearing you guys talk about the phases you went through, leading you into the Warrior diet in the end, which is cool.
What I am doing for this time period is a high protien paleo based intake that is broken into multiple meals and I am hammering weights almost daily. I never thought I would enjoy lifting, but it ends up that I do. A lot. I don't compete with anyone but myself, and try to lift during quiet times, but I am really enjoying it. I'm fortunate that I have a Gym at work and I have a desk job so I can spend my lunch hour in there instead of eating bagels with cream cheese, etc.
Anyways keep it up.
Yeah, I've always enjoyed lifting. It's always surprised me that so many dudes hate it so passionately. hahahaha
