i kinda feel sorry for christian, he's obviously dealing with an inner turmoil. listening to him trying to hold his own was akin to watching someone roll for the first time vs someone experienced. he's struggling to do anything and seems confused. before tapping out at the end.
I guess before calling he should have had a game plan lol. I love how they handled it "Why can't we all be friends here, why do you wish me to burn in hell?" classic line!
Ever since I became non religious I look back at what i believed and and slap my self in the face. I mean to be Christian you have to be almost a man with no brain (or any religion for that matter). Its a cult thats all it is. Most people only refer to their Christian God when they are wanting something or when somebody's death is near. Yes they may go to church but they just go for the hell of it. Hell everyone else believes in God and does it so they do to. It's the thing to do. If everyone is passing the joint around wouldn't you take a hit as well? I hardly talk about Religion anymore because you can't tell someone who is brainwashed what you don't believe in because like this video they will tell you you are going to hell. Yet I ask how are my ways any worse than theres? I've never killed anyone, I get along with everybody, I haven't robbed a bank that I know of? Hmmmmm sounds like I'm a peaceful person. That's good enuff for me. If you want to believe in something so unlogical, full of judgment and uncertainty than there are thousands of good Religions to choose from :) I enjoy living life like a dog. Wake up, eat a little dog food, play a little bit, then go back to sleep not worrying about Who's serving the right denomination or being baptized the right way so they won't burn in eternal torment.
Watch the movie Religulous. I love that movie.
i love how every now and then i see things like this that completely solidify my views on religion, especially christianity.
thanks for the post :D
Very true man, very true. I still do it myself sometimes, waiting for a late goal for my team I say "please God let us win!" At the end of the day, it's just that I've been taught to do that all my life so it is a habit, I always realise I'm being an idiot thoughQuote:

For those who dont want to watch, this is the general gist of this:
Christian: Jesus is real, the bible has been proven to be divine.
Atheists: Okay, give me an example.
Christian: Ummmm, errrr
I made it about 4 minutes into the video. I find it VERY frustrating when i hear "christians" go out of their way to let people know that "i'm right and youre wrong, and you are going to hell for it". I know i am one of the lone rangers when it comes to claiming to being a christian in the 10th planet community, but i feel its very unfortunate that it always seems to be the loud, arrogant, judgmental, ignorant christians who seem to be bringing the most attention to themselves. Though i am a christian.. i think that the Biblical version of a christian is MUCH different than the ones who seem to be claiming the title today. It reminds me a lot of how in the Muslim community, the only ones you seem to hear about are the ones who are blowing up buildings and killing people.. and giving the rest a bad name. I feel like now adays "christians" all seem to be about telling everyone they are going to hell, mainly because thats what they base their belief off of. The fear of going to hell when you die. Which to me makes God sound like some crazy sociopath. I believe being a christian isnt supposed to be about preparing for when you die, its supposed to be about your time spent here on earth. Doing the right thing, living by example, doing your part to make the world better. Not scaring people into think they are going to hell if they dont join your church and pay you so much money per week. And if we (christians) are supposed to live by the example set by the Jesus in the Bible, when did you ever see him going out and screaming at people or going out of his way to get into an argument over who's beliefs were right or wrong. He loved people, and when they would try to get arguments started about religion, he would be the one to dismiss it and express the importance of not arguing over such things. And that love is what ended up making him such a huge figure in the world. The reason you find him always surrounded with people. Not because he was judging everyone trying to prove his points. I think it would be great if every culture and religion could be open to hearing all the sides, even if they disagree, and focusing on progressing as a whole rather than diving up and turning people against each other because of differences in opinions. what happened to turning the other cheeck, give money to the poor, love your neighbor as yourself.. In fact, if christians want to live by the Bible, im pretty sure Jesus' words himself were "above all else, Love" but for some reason this seems to be lost in corruption and fear in the times we live in. unfortunate.
Sorry to hear that so many of you guys have had bad experiences with christians. It is extremely frustrating and heartbreaking to me that I am represented and subsequently judged based on the perceptions produced by people like the caller in that video. I do not feel that he is an accurate representation of my belief structure or my intellectual capabilities.
The church and the traditional understanding of the christian faith produce a great deal of frustration for me; they are far from perfect. But I can say without hesitation that almost every good decision I have made in my life has been made based on the things I was taught growing up in a christian home. It has been a tremendous source of joy and hope in my life, and although I often have doubts and I am far from perfect, I am extremely happy to be struggling through my intellectual journey. I wish everyone could have the experience I have had as a christian, and I wish everyone could be as happy and as blessed as I am.
I hope that one day through your dealings with me, you guys can at the very least come to believe that not every christian is a blathering idiot who can't defend his positions with intelligence or logic, despite the fact that you may disagree with the stated positions.
And I wish good things for all of you :)
@chronic_jiujitsu well said ;)
I didn't watch the video because I'm tired of all the Christian bashing that goes on in the world already.
You cannot judge Christianity based on Christians alone. Christians are not perfect. No one is. They mess
up just like everyone else. I think if you are to judge Christianity, you should look to the teachings of Jesus
to get a true example of what Christianity is all about. It's like G.K. Chesterton once said:
"The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried."
Arguments between "Athiests" and "Christians" 99% of the time end in favor of the "Athiest". Not because either side proved anything but because the "religious" side is represented by a complete dumb ass. Just the fact that either of the two parties would waste thier time fighting each other is completely pointless. It's not like one side is going to say "Oh yeah, you're right. My bad." Religious people are scared of science. Theyre scared that they might uncover something that would make them question their beliefs. There is ignorance on both sides. I think we all just need to keep our minds completely open and be aware of every angle. Explore all questions. The universe is amazing and there are too many mysteries to simply justify with a "big bang" or "God made it". Those are cop out answers. I can only imagine how mind blowing the truth is.
BTW I am not an athiest
Less religion, more jiu-jitsu =D
This is nothing new... besides, the person on the other end is usually not a very educated person, in the word of God or Christianity either, so its usually a pissing contest the "Atheist" will always win, due to preparation and... well, isn't it easier to criticize something without looking for answers of your own and just go with the flow right?
at the great white throne judgement who will win then ??
I find that most atheist to be assholes, much like the assholes that they point a finger at and laugh at. Religious or not, most people are assholes and insensitive to other peoples beliefs. Parochialism is an important term in anthropology, I think it should be an important term in todays world. Just because you don't understand Christianity doesn't mean you need to bash it and say stupid, ignorant shit. By all means, express your views, I will listen, but don't express opinions that are offensive to the majority of the world.
The problem is not what you believe in really. It's the fact that most of the Christians (especially here in NZ) would take a no for an answer and will try to shove their religion down your throat!
When I was at Uni Christians will approach people by themselves to talk about god and try to convert you on the spot, at the bus stop, in town...
Im pretty sure if I had some sort of revelation about god and all I would go and find them not the way around... They are soooo pushy and exactly like in the video they'll bring the "but you know you'll burn in hell if you're not Christian right?" ... That's a pretty solid argument to convert me to Christianity... NOT!
People should accept that their way is not the only way.
And at the same time some people have turned their life around with religion and are living a way better life. I'm all for it if it makes you happy and help other people. Just respect my choice of not being into it as much as you are.
most of the comments were blanketing religious views, not just one religion in particular which is most of the world, but just in case you were wondering like I was here is a diagram that I found off a quick google. I can't verify it, but I am sure it's relatively close.

( For the devils advocate sake, no pun intended)
I think even scientists and atheists at some point have to have faith in something, not necessarily in God or Gods. Because even with carbon dating and atomic measurement it is a possible figure and not exact. Sometimes it is way off. For so long scientists thought that they had the human evolution ( timeframe) pegged down, and it was based on scientific facts. Then they realized later after they found an older specimen and had to re-evaluate their theories. So in the mean time I have faith that they are way smarter than me and am having faith that they are not feeding me a crock of shit because I know for damn sure I'm not gonna spend the time to double check their equations! I have jiu-jitsu to learn! Also most recently they have discovered that a proton is (or for now they think it is) way smaller. I left a link if any of you are as nerdy as I am about silly things like this.
http://physics.about.com/b/2010/07/1...ize-proton.htm . I am with Joe Rogan on this one. There are a lot of people who are helped by religion and some that turn to duchebaggery. As long as they don't try to force me into believing it too, who cares? But your right the dude should have had his shit together before calling a live show! He's not supporting his cause very well!
yes,
I was raised in a Christian fanatic home. It was to the point of If I watched certain movies or wore certain clothes I was supporting the devil. It was so strict. I learned nothing out of this man. Sure I was taught not to lie, kill, fuck a donkey, etc etc etc. And I did for a while always think the choices I made were based on a church upbringing in Christianity. But I was wrong. You see it isn't because of some super natural force that leads you to be a good person. I believe your a good person because your a good person. I know plenty of people that don't even step foot in a church and would be there for me in a minute. Then there are people that do go to church that will help you out as well. People are people. Some are crazy and do horrible things to society and then others make good choices to the best of there ability. But is it because of some God of the Old Testament who punished people and had major issues with anger and jealousness? No I don't think so. You speak of the moral values Christianity teaches............yet anything that is done or is performed is determined by the people in the organization. Man developed a way of controlling society to his advantage and for years and years now it has discriminated amongst people. Everyone cant get a long do the their robotic programming on which path is correct to heaven. These group of people are thinking there way is the correct way and everyone else is wrong as such on and such on. Sort of Reminds me of The golden age of Martial Arts when everyone thought their style was the best style. Then came along Bruce Lee. He said how can people be divided like this. We are all people lets get along and train our ass off keeping it real with logic and sense. Keep it real :)
Great movie!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZpREDn4NFA

if you watch more videos from this program it seems that the majority of people who phone in barely understand their own religion. and when the host starts quoting chapters and verses off the top of his head in the middle of an arguement it really does make them look even worse.
It was actually my study of the bible that turned me to atheism. I can only imagine that the guy on the tv show had a similar experience. Actually, many atheists I know are quite well versed in theological studies since it was a rational search for truth via theology that led them to atheism.
Yes! I actually sat down and read the Bible one day. I was like damn.......how can this be. I was so depressed. I was hardcore Christian. It scared me that everything that I heard about God wasn't true. He was actually really evil. And the New Testament is actually just as bad. Jesus lies several times. He tells you to pray and things will be answered. Ask and you shall receive. Doesn't say maybe you shall receive it says ask and you SHALL receive. its all crazy. I wanna know who put all this together. Obviously the church has had some impact on the message the Bible gives. It's crazy. Life is crazy. To think billions of years have passed then all of a sudden I'm born and alive. These 23 years have been crazy. I think All that time has passed yet here I am for 23 years . WTF.
^^My favorite atheist know more about the bible than I do. I respect that have done so much to come to their conclusion and probably have more evidence to support their belief than I do to support my own. I even have had some good conversations with them over it that lead me to respect the decision they made for themselves even more. It never leads away from my own beliefs, but like I said I respect people that can have a civil-intelligent thought about their own beliefs.
Highly recommended read, my friend:

I plan on reading the Bible again before the summer is up. I don't know why. It just makes me frustrated. Brandon you are a smart person. I can't believe your Christian. I mean just listen. I have friends from all types of Religion. They all preach to me. What makes one right and the other wrong though? Why should I believe the Baptist and not the Church of Christ? Why should I believe the Pentecostal and not the Methodist? Thats just Protestant things though. why not Christianity over Islam? Or Buddhism over Hinduism? Why is one person better than the other? Empty your cup............think about it like that. Trust me I would want my kids ( if i had any) to be good and moral as possible. But I want truth and logic to be known as well........ahhhhh this subject bothers me as most of my friends are Christian. I think it's heart breaking how people think they are so super natural. What is the purpose of a tree? What is the purpose of a dog or leaf? Yet we think we are so super natural that we will live forever and spend eternity with some kind of God. Yet remember we are just a grain of sand on a beach. That's our universe.........I don't know though. Believe whatever makes you happy. Just try to get along with everybody and be full of humility and compassion. Thats what I believe being moral is . :)
these things are not easily explained or conversed about through the internet. I am very confident in my believes and the reasons that have are very similar to what most peoples are. I will say though, just because a person can disprove a math equation doesn't mean that mathematics is useless.
I don't have the math skills or the history knowledge to create an estimate but I often wonder: How many people have been slaughtered since the dawn of humanity because "God is on MY side, not yours!"
All I can say is God is real. I can not tell you the correct path to reach him though... Christianity was manipulated immediately after Jesus' crucifiction. The editorial flames of the Roman empire. Everyone seems to look past the fact that men rewrote most of the scripture and record to establish a way of controlling this "religious uprising". At least that's what I believe. Funny thing is the summerian text seems to verify parts of the bible, or it was the root of it's beginning??? One or the other. Both evil and good exist, there can not be one without the other. But evil will always attempt to control good, and good will always try to weather the attempts. This is just what I believe.
wheres your proof god exsist. No disrespect man i like you.......its just the fact ive read the bible. i v read the evild deeds god wants of a man. if i had a dog and he dug out my neighbors trash i wouldn't kill him .. thats what god did to man. his own creation didn't please him so he flooded us and wiped us out ... thats wrong morally and you can't deny that my friend. i love all you tenth planet brothers but you need to think logically for a moment. read the bible and think about it.
