yeah it has different levels but the three bases are.. no drugs, alcohol, or smoking. Some people take it even further like no caffiene, or they may even live vegatarian or vegan lifestyles. I just follow the base three but would like to move into a vegan lifestyle but it's extremely difficult to do

i was thinking about asking this sometime as a poll.
i think the majority of us here dont smoke or do drugs.
i rarely drink more than one or two beers- but other than that, im straight-edge i suppose.
oddly enough I've always been this way... I grew up with a stepfather that did all of them. And Meth was the big one... and he was a piece of shit. So I tried to be the complete opposite of him. I've got a huge fucking scar on my neck where the dick got so strung out he tried to slit my throat. So I'm 24 now and I have NEVER even tried anything. Not even once... just my choice ya know

Me and my friend got jumped by some straight edge kids at a concert a couple months ago. They said it was because we smoked weed.. But we knew it was because one of the members of their "gang" was dating my friends ex.. and it was just a childish drama thing. Luckily.. they all tried the "stand around and hope my friends take care of it" technique.. and nobody was smart enough to tackle us or get us on the ground. (Im all for jiujitsu in street fights, but not against a group of kids). So we were able to get through it with not much more than my friend getting a black eye. Good times Good times.. But to answer your question.. I dont drink pop, coffee, smoke cigs or drink.. (I pretty much just try to avoid anything unhealthy.. Not the best genetics in my family so I dont want to do anything to speed up the dying process :P) But I do smoke weed. So Im not sure if thats actually considered unhealthy or "bad" by the straight edge group.. or if those kids were just saying it was a drug to have an excuse to jump us.. but other than that.. I would guess I make those same diet/health decisions. soo.. yeah.. whatever that means >.>
eh... the movement did originate as a punk rock thing... and some dick kids turned all violent and shit over it... but I don't care what other people do. I simply live the lifestyle that works best for me
I was a heavy drinker throughout college and for years afterwards. I never ran anyone over or left a baby unattended in a pool, but I was doing it by myself a lot and it was getting in the way of things. But then 6 months ago I just decided I had had enough and stopped altogether. I still smoked weed in phases, but then I realized that I was binging on it and essentially using it as a substitute for alcohol, so now I've stopped doing that too. I figure I'll get around to phasing out caffeine, cigarettes and animal products eventually.
i used to drink, smoke and smoke weed whenever i had it :)
but even though i smoked for 3 years i never got addicted, so i quitting was a simple overnight thing lol. i dont drink anymore at all unless its a birthday or something, and weed, i still would but only if a friend offered it to me. any other drugs are a no no to me, except clean psychadelics :D
Occasional weed vaping and alcohol drinking here. Moderation is the key for me. I never touch nicotine any more.
I drink alcohol rarely, that stuff... If I didn't like working out I'd probably be an alcoholic! :)
Those would be the two drugs I limit myself to. A beer here and there, and a puff of something good, makes me happy, that's all I need to have an extra good time really! :)

One of the Montreal guys Chris Bilodeau was straight edge for years. I'm pretty sure now that he is comfortable with himself and matured he is not so strict about having a beer with us after a competition, or smoking a joint to ease the pain of training. As long as you are in control of your life there is not need to be so extreme.

I don't drink or do drugs but it's just because I feel it's a waste of time. I don't have a problem with it or people who do it, as long as it's done responsibly.
Being vegetarian is great man, the whole vegan kick is diff tho. Its mad easy to sub your protein with eggs n milk etc. But taking all animal protein out is all about balance. You can actually get protein from some fruits and vegetables. The durian is an awesome source of protein from fruit. Just remember, evething gonna make good for you ah life, es gonna comeh from Brazil

yeah bro... I've seen a lot of guys turn into idiots and go overboard with it. I'm an atheist too but I don't push that on people either as long as they don't get mad when I snicker a bit when they praise Jesus for a 50 dollar winning lottery ticket. Throughout high school my favorite band was AFI. Dude had some badass vocals and I believe he's a hardcore straight edge guy now too

Davey did go from being all hardcore glamour goth to suddenly being really drag queenish... he was hanging out with Jeffrey starr a lot so that probably had something to do with it.
