i believe so. there's been a slowdown in forum traffic since he really started posting ridiculous nonsense. lost spams the top with photos and irrelevant threads usually directed at you in sort of a creepy stalker love kind of way and it has really put many members off.

when you get the time, just comb over this thread and read the responses. lost has been pissing many members off and we have tried to be civil asking him/her to post his/her name and who he/she trains under. also to simply start contributing to the forum and lay off the creepy Eddie love.

I would never ban anyone for being critical or joking around. But if there are 40 critical comments vs. 1 positive - no thanks - this isn't the forum for you.

Shit! I better start being nice to people. I was going to say don't ban him, until I read the part about spamming to the top. That made me realize that it takes much longer to get to enjoyable threads now. Good ban. If he comes back as a non-doucher I would support that.

cmon guys. its funny most of the time. i like to lighten up my day with funny stuff and thank the guys who take the time to post stuff to lawl at.

I can also substantiate this. Sorry for sounding like a buzzkill in advance.

Remember the world, and more specifically, the web is not monolithic or homogeneous. It is quite diverse made up of many, many identities, with none really earning a majority in our shared social setting. This last point is extremely important.

You have liberals, conservatives, tea partiers, conspiracy theorists, Christians, Mormons, Muslims, Atheists, porn lovers, porn haters, religious nut jobs, athletic quasi christian prudes, lesbians, judgemental atheists, Olympic swimmers, classical musicians, and dreadlocks etc.

You have to deal with the female conservatives prudes; Evangelists, parents who google '10th planetjj' cause their 14 year old son or daughter is interested, liberal feminists, etc., who will also run and tell others that a particular site if full of inappropriate shit.

The point here is that not only do these views create a spectrum in which to declare our diversity, where one person could be in conflict between, inside or outside, agree with, be ambivalent about, or totally opposed to these differing views, these ideological positions can be, for some, a staunch anchor for social orientation. In some social theory, this is what differentiates humans from animals.

Not everyone is offended by lost's unpredictable, inappropriate posts, but some, because of their own ideological orientation, would prefer not to see that shit, and would simply rather takes steps to avoid seeing it by just not coming anymore. And we just don't know how many people interested in BJJ are prudes. 30, 40, 50, 60%?

If you look at it in reverse, that's why you won't see shit like that on cnn message boards, ufc.com, apple computer forums, or youtube reply messages, etc., they don't want to marginalize their audience, they want to maximize it.

They teach this is some computer marketing classes. Inappropriate posts seriously marginalize not only your web site by more than half, but as a result affect your business as well, because of some of the factors I mentioned here.

I watch my fair share of porn. Not too much, but I glance from time to time. However, the reality is some are turned off from sites that allude to it, or have blatant pictures, and the reality is you will lose traffic because of it.

I personally don't want to unpredictably click and see men's bongs, nasty clam shots, or someone posting a poliical 'picture of Sarah Palin', which turns out to be some chick dildoing herself -- and then there are other people in the room with me. *note to self: avoid that site*.

This is another major factor that is separate and different from personal standards/principles or mores. If you live on your own, or if your comp is in the attic, bedroom, or basement, you might not get what I'm talking about, but if you're predominantly in a shared space, especially with kids or teens running around, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Plus, which is not a real major thing for a percentage, but a major thing for another percentage, you don't want to be just closing a window of shit you didn't want to see in the first place, while someone just glances at your page. Yeah, right buddy! Explain all you want. I have even clicked on unexpected shit while on the bus using my iphone, with a colleague sitting next to me, looking over my shoulder. That shit is embarrassing! :(

*note to self: only visit this site when everyone is away, or sleeping, which is 2 times a day instead of 4/5 times a day*, which means that site traffic count goes down.

Not everyone lives alone or has a comp in the basement, bedroom or attic. A very large percentage is in living rooms, dorm rooms, their gym computers, internet cafes, at a girlfriends house, on the bus via free wifi, in their bedroom with open doors, starbucks, other free wifi spots, university comps, work places, etc. This factor, in addition to people with differing social ideologies, severely marginalizes your web traffic as well.

Again, they teach this is some computer marketing classes. Inappropriate posts seriously marginalize not only your web site by more than half, because some will either stop coming, or only come once or twice a day, instead of 5 top 6 times a day..

The point is you don't want to attract unpredictable folk like lost on your site, because they will drive others (those who want a more predictable viewing experience) away.

Some web sites are very private and are simply boy's clubs. They want to be private, while some are businesses, where not only increased traffic is important, but also want to maximize not just web traffic, but the perception the *general* public has of their business.
