I use it from Twister Side Control all the time as a back take. Even if he defends his arm, roll anyway and keep your arms straight throughout the process. If he sits up, take his back. If he sees it coming and won't sit up, use that old school Rorion Gracie choke where you squeeze his neck with your thighs. I just call it the Rorion. There's an armbar opportunity in here, as well, and a chance to sit up to the NS Kimura.
On another note, Marcelo Garcia refuses to use the Kimura. He says it doesn't work against big guys, so he doesn't waste his time with it. If there's someone on the board who has actually heard him dive deeper into this philosophy please share with the group :)
