Definitely not trying to lump all people who do crossfit into one group, it was more the individuals in this video. It's really fun to watch these guys bump into their inflated egos
Crossfit as a workout system is great, but I am an avid believer in the fact that Crossfit is not a sport. I guess you could say power lifting is not a sport either, but at least with power lifting I am only sitting there watching a guy do 15-20 squats of 800 lbs. not 600 squats over the period of an hour with 135 lbs. It's like workout NASCAR, the first few laps are exciting but once that 15th or 20th lap comes around it's time for a pee and beer break. Working out for the sake of working just eludes me and just because a guy can do a couple dozen of terribly formed pull ups and do a million deadlifts just say he is better at workout than others, I can appreciate the hard work but I don't see the sport aspect and while a lot of people are super awesome that do it, I can't go a day at work with out some crossfit dickhead coming through my line, telling me how much better crossfit is than any other workout system. When did working out become more about impressing others, rather than pushing ones limits and discovering new thresholds. With any systems in an social construction an asshole will surface, so I guess in the superficial world of fitness it is hard to just single out crossfitters.
OK I am a few minutes into this video, and I can assure you I have no interest in watching the whole thing.
But I don't see the cuntyness.
The only thing that bugs me so far is how these guys continually throw the weights off the ground. I can't stand that. Total lack of control.
I'm probly the cunt, because I just look at this amazing athletic specimen and wonder how long it would take for me to kill him.
I like CrossFit a lot, but it works for me, I don't work for it. As a fitness methodology it is very effective, it was originally meant to condition athletes to improve performance in their sport. I am not a fan of the whole "fittest man alive" title and stuff, bound to create prima donnas.
Sports have skill components, CrossFit as a sport's only skill component is how to cheat exercises better. Amazingly conditioned athletes but it is not a skilled game.
Here is a review of what happens when throwing a ball is part of the CrossFit Games

"Oh, you think the endurance and strength is your ally, but you merely adopted the fitness. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t see true athletic application until I was already a man; by then getting smashed,l it was nothing to me but practice! The cardiovascular fitness betrays you, because your carotids belong to me."
This is what I whisper in my Bane voice. I bet its reeeally annoying.
