I find early on that Cora's grip is not as strong as the boys. So with a weak grip, chokes are not as effective as it should be. But with rubber guard attacks, they are hooks instead of grips.

Wow... Great insight into her grip strength, relative to the boy's.
I agree with you. Why not take advantage of her natural ability to RG, especially since her opponents will be unaccustomed to the approach, when wearing the GI.

You nailed it brother. What I find also is that there are 2 kids in the Houston area that are accustomed to her rubber guard that she competes against regularly. One of whom happen to be her team mate and the other happen to be a boy she always goes against. They are the two she have to struggle to get them in her guard. But with all the other kids, she basically destroyed them in her guard. And not once she even use a Gi choke. She brings to the competition something different than any other kid is use to at their gym. There isn't anyone like her in the Houston area that play a game like her so its hard for them to be prepare for her. However, we been working on her top game a lot and its showing up now. Its a great feeling to have such a bottom game that it really doesn't matter where she is at, she feels comfortable. This Nov will mark our 1st year of 10thplanetJJ. She come so far in such a short time, can't imagine how she will be by the end of next year.

Back in the '90's I used to wonder why there was such an emphasis placed on passivity.
At the time, their logic was, "let your opponent gas out, and wait to take what he gives you."

My thinking was, and will always be, your game should be strong enough to take what you want.
That's what Cora is doing with Eddie's system. Amazing indeed.
