I agree with you, llike MTS is more than resonable. But I found that the costs for rashgaurds and ect are the norm from what I'm used of seeing. The rashgaurd at Nordik Fight Club is 60$ long sleeve for example. And on Amazon I didn't pay shipping for Eddie's books cuz I spent more than $25-35. I just thought it would be a win win situation for everyone.
Haha, it wasn't aimed as much at you. More just at the whole thread. The guy had an idea, his idea was kinda shit once people pointed out shipping is like $6 (Suppose that depends on what you order though??) and items are hardly overpriced (including MTS); I just didn't want to see loads of other people telling him the same thing, i'm sure he started the thread with good intentions and it just kinda backfired.
I just read Chris Herzog's messages. If I would have known people would be pissed at me for saying this I wouldn't have posted this. To be clear not once have a complained or talked negatively about 10p and eddie bravo for whatever, I try to get people interested in his system and no gi JJ over here in Quebec. I try to get people interested in JJ or MMA when its not that popular in Quebec city. Man, I'm really sorry for pissing people off. I just thought it was a reasonable suggestion. Amazon gives free shipping after 25-35 dollars and I mentioned 100$ or 3 purchases, I just thought people would buy more instead and we would all benefit from this. I'm really sorry guys, I didin't mean to stir some shit.
Nobody is pissed bro, don't worry. People are just pointing out that a lot of the services 10th Planet/Eddie offer are already at quite reduced prices and it could come across a bit petty if we expected free shipping as well.
There's nothing wrong with your idea man, discounted shipping would be awesome for us over here in the UK but I guess it was also pointed out that it's the Postal Service that decides these costs and if shipping is free then there is a $20 (perhaps more/less) hole in the 10th Planet accounts every time when items are already at a decent price.
But yeah, nobody should be pissed at you, keep repping hard over in Quebec :)
It's a really good suggestion, and it's mad wack anybody gave you crap for it. The thing I really like about 10P is that Eddie, and the system, are open-minded and open to ideas.
On that note, when I lived in SoCal, I use to buy all my skate gear on SocalSkateShops.com due to their free shipping (if you spent over $85). Sometimes I would only need a new board, or maybe some wheels, but I was all about the free shipping, so I'd buy other ish too. So, what originally would have been a $30 to $50 transaction, usually increased to to about $100, thus doubling or even tripling the original sale.
Peace.
sarasin21, don't let people make you feel bad for voicing a reasonable opinion or asking questions as someone who doesn't know something and just wants to rep. I personally ordered a rashie over a year ago to Toronto, and Eddie was nice enough to send it as a gift so shipping was like 3 bucks or something very minimal. For major orders, its more of a pain for you because then you get into duty and custom issues that them good ol US boys don't have (although our brothers outside of North America might be able to relate). You might want to see if its cheaper to order items one by one (just break it down financially and see, because you might get hit with a nice $20-$30 customs hit that the Canadian Gov't loves to hit people with if you order over $100 worth of stuff).
Also look into getting in touch with Louis Ho who runs 10 P Montreal, he might be able to help or give you some good advice because he knows what its like ordering stuff to the province. I personally didn't think your suggestion was ridiculous, but I'd be interested to see Eddie's response to it. He's a pretty reasonable guy and would say yes or no with a decent reason. One things for sure, he does do this for a living, so cutting costs here and there do add up, but it seemed like your suggestion was just a suggestion and not meant to carve anyone or be disrespectful.
Cheers bro!
I don't see anyone that is pissed, I'm surely not. Comparing Eddie's little operation to Amazon is a tad ridiculous though.
I C what you mean. I did notice that MTS was inexpensive but the rashguards seemed like the average if not above average price you would find elsewhere in my opinion "at the time".. Now I clearly see places like Gracie JJ are charging more. I was comparing on what I see here in Quebec and elsewhere that I've been. Just the nike rashgaurd I bought in that pic you see I bought for 40$ and that was in the states. And when Herzogg says "discounts" I think he means "inexpensive" because I have never seen discounts at the 10p store, there is a difference..
And as for the shipping costs, I know its not Eddie that decides the shipping costs, that should be obvious, what people are missing out is that it could be good marketing in order to sell more. People respond to incentives. I think it would actually help his business not put a hole in the 10p accounts. If you don't put products "as discounts" rather than "inexpensive" how are people going to know that it's inexpensive? I didn't and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I think its reasonable to think a rashgaurd as being expensive when it's almost twice as much (25$) as the one you own.
And I don't think its ridiculous to compare eddies store with amazon when both of them sell products by the internet. Amazon uses free shipping as a "promotion" to get clients to buy more for a little less and it works for them so why not here? So tell me Herzog why is it ridiculous?
