I have no idea.
I don't know about the conspiracy side of this, but I've been in music my entire life.
Put very simply, tuning an instrument at 432 instead of 440 would simply make the pitch a little lower. Semi tones lower. My guess is less than a half step.
This is really interesting, though. I'm gonna read up on it. I got nothing better to do tonight. I'll tune my guitars at 432 and play for a while. Hopefully I will connect to Mother Earth. I'll let you know.
“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” – Nikola Tesla
Love this quote.
Basically, you'd be playing in B flat instead of A, so I guess trumpet players are more "in tune with the universal vibrations, man."
Im a fan of tesla but Ive never understood why people tend to muddle his work with mysticism and conspiracy. The misunderstanding and misuse of terms like energy, frequency and vibration are very frustrating. Energy is not a synonym for magic.
btw brandon, unless you have a fret-less guitar, you cant really play in this tuning. Fretted instruments are built for equal temperament tuning. Pythagorean tuning (A=432) is kinda weird in that the notes are not equally spaced (in cents) from each other. Guitars can only play turnings where the notes are equally spaced like A=440. You will hear more dissonance and less consonance when you play, so more noise in the chords. Try playing thirds, they will sound like crap, but the fifths should sound a tiny bit sweeter if you have a good ear. Also you would need to change the intonation of the guitar but thats less of a problem than the fret wires not being in the right spots.
Im a shit musician but Im pretty ok at math.
Not with a decent instrument. We're talking a little less than a half step down. 430 would be about the equivalent of a half step.
That'd be like saying you can't play in an alternate tuning. If you have a tuner that can change the setting it's no problem.
i recorded a real fast comparison. same lick on an acoustic guitar.
432 is first. 440 is next.
sound relatively the same but 440 feels a tad sharp in comparison.

There more than 1 side to the misunderstanding. People are trying to use words to describe things that are only now becoming more popular ways of describing intangible things that are going on around us. We havnt gotten to the point of properly being able to study these things with the methods usually used to study things to have scientifically credible names for them
Possibly jumping to the view point of thinking everything unproven by the scientific method is superstition or magic is an even bigger problem
Look into it yourself. The frets on your guitar are set up to play notes 100 cents apart. You can play on alternate tunongs or play a half step down but your still note playing in a pathagarian based system. Because the fret are going to be all 100 cent apart notes and the type of tuning based on this 432 idea they are not. om pretty drunk and using a phone.
