Eddie, isn't your 1/4 guard just a quick transition to lockdown or maybe deep half? :)

most of my guard is half guard lock down or the butterfly guard, but when i m rolling with a wrestler i like the rubber guard because they like to keep tight and push on you.
For me, RG is another path to try from full guard. If someone's posture seems breakable, and my position feels right, I'll pull it, and then I try really hard not to let them out. But if someone is posturing hard or trying a standing pass, I'll go to shield, deep half, de la riva, etc. So I'd say it's like 15% of my closed guard game in a gi, 30% no-gi.

I play the meathook more often then RB, but would say that 60% of my bottomgame is hg/lockdown. usually tend to go to jiu claw from RB and I just throw that from full now days
I mostly go for butterfly guard but always end up in half/quarter guard. Before I was doing deep half all the time, but I've decided that it is gay since I got kimura'd in my last tournament from there. Now I force everything to lockdown or dogfight. It seems like if I can even get a lockdown on someone, that I will run through them, but lockdown is harder and harder to get. If I am in quarter and I can't get lockdown but I already have double unders, I switch to dogfight mid-way into the footwork. If they are postured in my halfguard and hiding their leg from the lockdown I go to z-guard and from there I have a few sweeps that have been working very well. If I get tired, I go to full guard which is RG. I suck at RG.
