Lots of details in there... I'll have to take some time later to give it the attention it deserves, but I love this position and get frustated that it's not used much in mma when the bottom guy hugs.
Here are some details I keep in mind:
- I like to keep his wrist trapped under my arm and I sink down...cupping his elbow and my thigh all help to keep his arm bent at 90 degrees with his elbow up near his shoulder.
- I also like to get him a little to his side, but not all the way....If his back and ass are still pointed a little towards the mat, it's a lot more difficult for him to shrimp out of the arm pressure.
- maintain this cupped elbow arm trap position when going back for an arm bar rather than transitioning to a regular arm bar....the slightest roation of your hips combined with stretched his arm is killer.
- I like to use a similar sort of arm bar when I'm doing a regular oma plata and can't get my bottom leg out. My body is perpendicular to his and I sort of do a log roll away from his feet.
...anyways....I'll give yours a read and see what you got for ideas.
