I am not sure where you see the underhooks. Ronda threw an overhand right followed by a left knee which had Alexis pretty much crumpled over and out of it. Her hands were not doing anything much before she was thrown.

The so called bear hug of which you speak was a standard head and arm control to a hip throw. No more or less than you would expect from a world class judo player.

The female MMA talent pool is extremely small. I personally would prefer to watch something more competitive than one round annihilations by someone who appears head and shoulders above the opposition.

Alexis hugged around Ronda's waist...under hooks. And the talent pool is growing. UFC hasn't been where the women are at..Ivicta was the biggest women's fighting organization up until here recently. It's going to take a minute to pick all the best from there, get them to the UFC..and god, who knows if there is someone right now that can beat her. People are so unfocused when they fight her. They're so worried about their arms that they forget everything else. It seemed as if Alexis would be a good match for Ronda, but she's just a savage..ruthless.

Holm is just one more who has 0 chance of surviving in there with RR. At this point it looks like Cyborg or nothing, or else someone we have yet to hear about.

I just watched the replay over and over to check. ronda first lands an overhand right. so she moves in and ducks davis' punch and lands her right. then she switches her stance and throw her with a under/over and sits in judo side, controlling her head with the arm she had an overhook with while the underhooking arm was punching the crap out of davis. davis only got the double unders once ronda got in judo side.

I liked how chill and relaxed Alexis looked during her walk out. Looking back after the fight, maybe she should of gotten a little bit more pumped up. :cool:

Under hooks ...grabbing around the torso while standing ...now that I watched it again she was mostly lights out and looks like she was just trying to hang on and not fall to the ground but Ronda took care of that for her.

Isaac,

Having also watched it repeatedly I honestly cannot see:

1. The switch in stance- she boxed orthodox with a left leg lead and threw left handed.
2. The throwing with an under/over- she controlled the head with her left arm grabbing her opponent's left armpit and overhooked her opponent's left arm with her right arm. That is not an over/under position as is known to wrestling or even Judo and I saw no underhook at all.
3. The double unders- which suggests a measure of control when there was none after the right hand and knee had landed.

Ronda has proved herself to be a world class athlete by medalling at World and Olympic level in a highly competitive sport which is practised world wide by full time athletes many on state supported schemes. That is an underappreciated and superb achievement which to my mind far outweighs her domination of a small number of what appear to be so far limited opponents from North America.
