Great video, thanks for that perspective. I've met this counter once this week, but so far was able to defend the heel hook just long enough to grab a cloverleaf. For myself, I'd bet on the heel hook though.

Amazing Drew. I'm still blown away how people can just invent new FUNCTIONAL moves that work vs fully resistant opponents out of necessity. Thank you for sharing this Drew.
Let me tell you a thing. I've only rolled with BMac one time in my life. Back when he was still a purple. And on that day I learned a very valuable and scary lesson. You see, I snatched up a cloverleaf on him while in 5050. Seminar move. I was in disbelief that I even got it. But then Brandon snatched up the inverted heel hook. I figured, well, I got here first. The odds are in my favor. And then I heard the loudest pop i've ever heard come from my body. I think BMac had a heart attack. And for a second so did I. The only reason I didn't freak out is because I felt no pain. I must've had an angel on my knee that day because I suffered zero injury. Once I assured Brandon that I was ok, I sat my dumb ass down and didn't roll the rest of the day...ecause that moment was terrifying. On that day I learned that heel hook beats cloverleaf. In fact, heel hook beats everything. LOL.
tl;dr Heel hooks > cloverleaf
I remember that! It scared me to death. I'm really glad nothing bad happened from it. I think if that were to happen today, I would have just tapped rather than finding out if you were gonna tap to a heel hook.
Texas Cloverleaf is a legit kill, though; don't get it twisted, kids.
Heel hook is killer. Only thing here, is watching your outside leg. A good dude is not inly grabbing the free leg when transitioning, but also attacking it when you free the trapped leg. Everything has its counters and this ine is great. I cant remember what orchard calls this counter, but its a solid one for sure.
