Actually 10th Planet found me! I was at the Arnolds, and there was some seminars. Eddie was one of the seminars, so I checked him out and asked some questions on Myspace. Went to the seminar and the rest is history! I met a distant brother from another mother ;) Who actually shared alot of the same beliefs that I did. Since then it has been a wild ride, but a very worthwhile one ;)
i got over being told by people that the gi is the only way rolled with a guy who loves the 10th and yeah kinda got sick of paying some fucker 9 dollars a lesson on line every move sweep sub i'm fine if you wanna make money but fuck me just cause you got a black belt and a famous last name fuck that 10th for life and now gi and no gi fucking sweet as
10th plant jits, sort of found me, I was doing a NAGA back in mid 00's, and the guy that I was against, who was an Alliance guy, attempted a Rg path to omaplata, but his RG wasnt controled and tight, so I rolled out of it and took side control to win via katagatame choke useing whatwe call the "Stake" now...I had met Eddie at a King of theCage, and had read about Eddie bought the TWISTER vid, so when the guy said, I tried to get you with Eddie Bravos Jiujitsu, and I was already impressed by how the position had me semi controled, I started thinking about my MMA game, and it made since to me since I already used the deep hooks therery, I bought the unleashed book that weekend, and started adding that to my Jits, I still shoot for the Apollo...from time to time. But then came MTRG and MTT, the videos, and I even have some videos of non 10th guys trying to teach the RG and Twister. It was all like a light comeing on in a new room, and my world changed, adding it all to my Jits game, evolution continued. I love how the 10th p family continues to push forward, createing new positions, subs, sweeps, and revamping old ones.
i went to my gym in my university to learn jitsu, and it just so happened that my coach there was a tenth planet guy and so the ball started rolling there
I belive it was 2003 or 2004 I was really getting into BJJ and was soaking up any information about it that I could find on the internet ended up on GrappleArts.com and found a technique page with "the meathook" technique I then used it very effectively against an much bigger opponent while rolling after that I couldnt get enough been hooked ever since
Watched ADCC 2003 and Eddie's fight vs Royler. Put that in the back of my mind. Contacted him a couple years later to do a seminar at my school. I had contacted several jiu jitsu teachers and Eddie was the only only who PERSONALLY got back to me (everyone else was managers/agents). I liked his personal and friendly approach. I asked at the time if he had affiliates (he didn't) and said, sign me up when you are ready. He told me "rep the hell out of the system and we'll see." I then showed up at any seminar I could throughout the US and Canada. Rest is history.
Complete accident. We can go over it when we meet up. The short version... I was rolling with this cat and he was on top of me and had me pinned against a wall. I tried to push off the wall and reverse my position but he was too strong. Instinctively I went wrist to ankle and ended up in a weird rubber guard variation. I noticed the man was trapped as time ran out. I lost the match but as I was walking away, someone said to me "Nice Rubber Guard". I acted as though I knew what it was and had been working on it for some time. The rest is history.
I needed a place to roll on saturdays when I was visiting family in Delaware and I came across Kevin Green's gym. He loves it when I come into his gym and trash talk the rubber guard. ;)
I do love it Victor.. :) Keep it up and Ill tell all your Gi buddies you train with us ;)
