I studied wing chun back in the day, and here at the jkd institute we use some obviously (lop sao ect). In mount it would work. Maybe even close quarters but mma is a sport. Wing chun is more of a street art.

Why?Quote:
you wouldnt use mma in a pub
What exactly, lets say typical mma training wouldn't help you in a street conflict? Why is Wing Chun more of a street art?
The man Ip man was about actually taught Wing Chun to bruce lee.
He was Bruce's teacher until Bruce moved to the states. Ip Man saved Bruce Lee from a jumping, while Bruce was walking home from school. Bruce Lee's father was a famous asian star and Bruce himself began acting at a very early age. His classmates were jealous of him and he used to get jumped everyday after school. He was a tough kid but he needed some direction. Ip Man provided that. JKD evolved from Wing Chun when Bruce realized that Wing Chun didn't work in a "mixed" environment. It had holes that needed to be filled. Boxing, fencing, judo, wrestling, savate, ect... Here we are today, in love with 10th Planet, which shares the same principals as JKD. Eddie, a modern day Bruce Lee. If it works, put it into the system. After all, Bruce was a pot head : )
