Is there a specific stretch to help achieve this?
ive found going into half lotus and leaning as for forward/down as i can helps me really feel a nice stretch in my hippies. see what you think of it :)

Since hurting my knee a few months ago I've stayed away from the full lotus but it most certainly can be achieved with a CONSISTENT stretching routine. I was stiff as hell when I first started and now my flexibility is rarely a problem (well the hip and knee argue sometimes...)
Look into PNF stretching as well. I made huge progress with that years ago for rock climbing and applying it to jitz helped immensely.
