Agreed!! :)
Not along those lines at all actually... If you want to cut weight= fine, if you fight at the weight you cut to. Making special 24 hr advanced weigh-ins is ridiculous. It is a system for washouts and those who question their ability. It is more along the lines of "don't get mad at me if I roid out as long as I pass the piss test"! If they must maintain day ahead weigh-ins, then they need to give a "supervised" hydration at the time of weigh-ins. This weight-cutting thing started in Wrestling, where it is no longer allowed because of safety reasons. But we all know Combat Sports is way safer than wrestling, so it should be allowed in BJJ/MMA... Really??? This is your logic? I could never even imagine wanting to prove myself in combat against a smaller, weaker opponent!!! What would I be proving? What would I be screaming to the world??? "I am a scared PUSSY" that's what! It's similar to College football teams taking on High School football teams in the Rose Bowl. What would that prove? Nada. Counter point? Please.
Counter point.
Its about coloring between the lines. The rules are, you weigh in the day before, you compete the next day. If I can cut 15lb and still kick your ass, than I won fair and square. If I take steroids, pass the drug test, and kick your ass, I still cheated, I just didn't get caught. They are two different things.
I look at like this, if you can't cut the weight than your body isn't on the same level as a person that can or you didn't train hard enough, just like if you can't high kick, your body either isn't capable or you didn't train hard enough. Let me put in your terms, if you can't cut the weight and fight to your best abilities, than your a pussy.
We have all seen plenty of fights where a competitor cut to much weight and looked like dog shit and lost. The does the guy that win say oh it doesn't count cause he was dehydrated? No, because they fought within the rules and the better man got his hands raised.
So I repeat, its about coloring between the lines.
i vote for same day weigh ins =D
^I compete in both, it's not an issue for me, I just follow whatever rules are given. If I don't like the rules, than I don't participate in the event.
I think the only reason we should weigh in the same day is to lower the chance of injury. The people that dry out so much and their weight cut has to be stopped by a doctor are just crazy. I often wonder if severe dehydration decreases the amount of fluid around the brain and subsequently increases the chance of concussions? Its a completely uneducated idea, that makes sense to me.
So, in your logic. If I can't shed weight to fight a smaller opp, than I am a pussy? LMMFAO! I will fight anyone at any weight, they don't have to bother with the Pussy ass weight cut or catch weight for that matter. That's the way warriors think period! As I stated, it's a wrestlers tradition, that wrestlers have now banned (because of safety issues concerning cutting weight). If it is not safe for the idiots that started the BS tradition, than it's def not safe for BJJ/MMA period, color all the colouring books or paint all the pretty pics you want, that doesn't change reality. Put in the work, put in the reps, do the best that you can do. Hell I'd fight Ubereem for fun ;) Just keeping it real. Because everyone on here that knows me, knows this to be true. I love fighting, it is playtime for me. I long for it. Know that it is playtime, and not survival. But most of the time when it was survival as well :) Maybe I'm just sick like that! But please continue to try and convince us. You obviously walk your talk, so once again try to justify this approach. I just explained mine.
