because some of the gracies are known to hate on eddie bravo and some look at him as anti-jui-jitsu and the fact that a fighter used a move Bravo invented in the promotion that the gracies helped create is ironic.
it was a joke.

The only thing that might annoy the Gracies is that Eddie is given credit for inventing the move, which is actually a wrestling move. But Eddie does not claime to have invented it, and if Jung saw it on a 10PJJ video then Eddie does deserve the credit.
I wouldn't be surprised it Rener/Ryron break this one down. You guys sound like a bunch of high school kids with the "Gracie Hate" subject. I think that maybe some dislike him, but you don't have to label an entire family for the actions of a few. Everyone has haters, just because one or two of them may have that last name doesn't automatically mean there is some sort of family vendetta.
"It is weird that since that match that a rivalry [with the Gracies] has started, you know [laughs]? I used to worship those guys. Now they look at what I am doing as anti-jiu-jitsu, when in fact what I’m doing and have done is pro-jiu-jitsu"
eddie bravo said that himself in an interview. A lot of Gracies don't approve of the system. I don't know why, because it's got some cool fucking concepts (it probably has something to do with them feeling threatened or something) but it's definently more than one or 2.
And trust me, I've trained with plenty of traditional bjj players who hate on 10th planet for absolutely no reason at all. And they definitely don't get those ideas from their own mind because if they thought for themselves for a second they would see the practicality in the system, especially after this fight.
basically a repeat of when the Judokas accused the Gracies of stealing from judo when they were simply evolving the system except now there's a role switch, bravo is in the Gracies shoes. Funny how things work.
Renner Gracie is a fan of Eddie and the system. Thats what Eddie said to me after I delivered a message from Renner saying hi to Eddie in 2009 when I visited the HQ in Torrence CA. That was enough for me that Renner is real about our system, he is also a really cool guy.
Where is this thread going? Let's get off the gracie/Eddie hate train and focus on whats really important here.. We just witnessed a Twister in the UFC! Thats going to be a HUGE step forward for 10th planet. Now lets just pray for the sorcerer ;)
I wasnt referring to anyone hating the system.. I was talking about this same subject that seems to make its way into a lot of the forums on here. I was just trying to get the focus back on the main point.. being the Twister in UFC.. I consider this a win for both the Gracies and Eddie.. Its a step forward in jiujitsu as a whole. Hopefully this will open some peoples eyes to the evolution that has been occurring in jiujitsu the past years as they begin to research this new "Twister" that they are all seeing for the first time. And it will inevitably lead them this direction. Which means soon people wont have a choice but to learn the system.. if nothing else.. just to know how to defend against the foreign moves. So I just think that anytime you see something like the Twister, Rubberguard, Sorcerer, Or another 10th planet friendly move utilized in front of such a large audience.. It's going to bring in more people to grow the system. Which is great.
