LoL, yea we had that discussion yesterday when I was Uploading them... Good advice man!!!

Hey Josh,
Looks good! How long have you been training for?
My advice is a bit general, but I hope it helps
Try to control the fight at all times. I don't mean be aggressive and try to overly dominate, just always have something you are looking for from each position.
eg.
- if you are pinned under side control, hand fighting to a specific grip that lets you work your best escapes
- if you are in butterfly guard, get to the best grips that allow you to work your preferred sweeps (most likely over/unders)
- once you hit top control, have a preferred pinning position (eg mount, side control, kneeride, front control)
Having a specific goal in each position really helps you start to direct your game. If you don't know or understand certain positions then your goal should be on trying to orientate yourself back to where you know.
eg
- if the only sweep you know is from half guard, you better master locking the leg down, fighting for the underhooks and getting up on your side
- if the only submission you knew was the RNC, then you should spend a lot of time trying to get to the back
(Hopefully a person would have a few more moves than this but it's just an example)
Also, you should try to work on securing the following positions often. They're the basis for working the system
- Establishing the Lockdown & whipping up on to your side
- Butterfly Guard clinching close with over/underhooks and both butterfly hooks engaged.
- Closed Guard with posture control and a foot on the hip
- securing side control & transitioning into Twister Side Control
- getting to the mount, sky dive and a head & arm clinch
- sprawl with the over/unders
- back with the over/unders
The moves in the 10th Planet System will fill everything out and give you all the options & transitions you need but the general direction of your game should be
- escape a submission
- defend a bottom position (eg under side control)
- escape a pin to guard (or knees and go into the infamous Middle Game)
- stop the pass (defend guard)
- sweep from guard
- submit from guard
- improve guard (eg Half Guard to Butterfly, Butterfly to Rubber Guard or X-Guard)
- pass guard
- secure (most probably) side control
- transition into mount (improve position)
- secure sprawl
- transition into side back control
- put in back hooks
Very general, and your order may change due to which positions you like, whether you prefer to finish from guard or submit from the top, but it's a good hierarchy to remember because it always keeps you moving forward. Also, a roll or a match never really happens in that order and it jumps between positions constantly
but you want to make sure you usually aren't going backwards.
Once again, hope it helps. Sorry for all the lists' and brackets. I tend to do that.
Thanks man!!! That helps alot.. You know, I play a really lazy game and just try to outlast my opponent... I don't really care what position I get put in because it gives me an opportunity to work escapes... Obviously I'm referring to roll session rather than a tourney... I have been training in jiu jitsu on and off for six years... I never enjoyed it that much when I started but i later realized that it wasn't the art, it was the ego and attitude of the person I was learning from... However for almost the last two years I have really gotten serious with it... I had been studying 10th planet informally (on my own) for a little over a year and formally since December of '09... I opened a hotbox and am slowly working on becoming a 10th Planet affiliate for the city of Mobile, Al...
Hence the reason I want to get feedback on my vids... I want people to expose the holes in my game so that I can correct them and be the best I can be... I appreciate your help and the encouragement...
Posting again... Alright!
I'm watching you clips again, and if I see something more specific I'll try to point it out.
On Rolling with Lane 4 at about 28 sec you hit stomp.
- make sure to extend your lockdown before you hit a stomp to open up space for the butterfly (really extended it)
- with "the Stomp" step on the outside of his heel, roll it to the floor and stomp it flat. You can stomp on the calf but that heel to the floor is so much more solid
- once you have both hooks in, you can scoot back to establish butterfly guard, but a powerful drive with the shins will reset
most people. Don't forget to sit up and drive with the pimp hand as well as the hooks
You should drill your stomps, jaws of life and whip up religiously till they are second nature. (But I guess that can be said about every move....meh)
And the Super Stomp. You gotta have the Super Stomp!
This specific? More specific? Does this help? If so, I'll continue to hunt.
(P.S You probably know these things and I know how easy details are to forget or ignore in a roll, but the stomp is a core 10th Planet move and isolation drilling the fuck out of this pays off.)
Oh and sorry, I'm not trying to sound high and mighty. You've probably been doing this for just as long as me. I just always return to the basics of good control, good technique and knowing that every rep does count, but more so if your doing it (near) perfect and with the right mind set.
And I break those rules (that list I wrote up there) all the time.
eg. Constantly giving up top position to work on Guard, letting guys pass to work my escapes.
It's all good.
& thanks for the info my friend
Thought it could have been Super Stomp too. That's why I threw it in there. Although I called it the New Stomp. Silly me. I'm a go back up and edit that so it doesn't contuse what I was trying to get at.
Extending the lockdown fully before going for the Super Stomp will help greatly when trying to do it in one fluid motion.
Cheers Jonathan.
Man I didn't take it as you sound high and mighty at all... Basics are what makes moves work!!! Without basics you have no foundation... Normally I do extend my lockdown all of the way but like I Said before, I have a broken toe on that foot and it's agonizing to put alot of pressure on it... I started to go for a regular stomp and changed it to a super stomp half way through... I'm kinda random that way!!! Thank you for being specific with me cuz that's exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping to find...
