How far from 10th Planet Springfield or St Louis are you. Either location would be an awesome place to start the process.
I'm about a three hour drive from any of them... And I've planned on making a trip out to visit one of them but I would never be able to make many trips. I went to Memphis and talked to some of the guys at Memphis judo and Jiu Jitsu and after a few minutes I could tell it wasn't legitimate enough for me... They offered to give me a blue belt but it seemed very commercial so I didn't take it... Felt more like a money thing than something I earned.. But yeah I want to be belted under 10th planet!!!! Preferably under Eddie himself!! I even tried getting a seminar done at our local mma club... I had planned on going out to Springfield, Mo. When Eddie was having a seminar there and I was scheduled for a title defense on that same day... So.. Disappointment after disappointment...
Just to clarify are you looking to be belted in gi or no gi?
If you are looking to be belted in gi:
I am sure all schools are different but if you rocked up to our school I am pretty sure even if you hadn't worn a gi ever, but put a gi on and started schooling blue belts you would be given your blue belt (or greater) after only a couple of weeks of proving your skills/understanding.
I could be wrong but belts are about skill level/understanding not about time?
how about making the trip out to HQ to be tested by Master Eddie? I have seen people from all over the world come and stay for a week or so to roll and be tested not sure if that is option for u but theres always takin home limbs from the tourneys while repin 10th planet to get u recognized
Worst case Brian in Springfield is awesome. I drive eight hours to train with that dude.
you went to memphis judo and jiu jitsu? iv been having a guy come down to teach us who has trained for 14 years and is a brown belt. he is nice but i dont think he will promote me cuz he hates eddie bravo and weed and tenth planet. and the highest guys i train with at my gym is purple. i have trained for a year and 6 months so i know what your feeling. id like my blue but i cant do shit about it. ill keep training cuz i dont care i love jiu jitsu. someone will recognize me one day hopefully.Quote:
