I think its a mix of both. Pettis is very young and has a lot of growing to do. WEC champ is a lot different then a UFC champ.

I don't think he's overrated, I think he's amazing with what he has and is capable of being one of the best fighters in the UFC, but I do also agree that he may need to up the grappling sides of his training camp. I read somewhere that the lead grappling instructor at Roufusport is only a purple belt? Don't get me wrong, there are legit and very dangerous purple belts out there, but a kid with Pettis' potential and serious talent with jiu-jitsu (even for the limited knowledge he may receive) should probably be learning from someone of higher rank. Also, I'm not sure what the wrestling aspects are like, but from the Guida fight it's clear that could be improved upon as well.
Regardles , Pettis looked dangerous off his back and very exciting to watch!
anyone that can knock ben henderson on his ass with a matrix kick is not over rated. especially considering that ben henderson beat cerrone twice.
Cerrone's quote is overrated.
Aaron Bridges is the purple belted instructor and he is a good grappler. I think he has 2 ammy fights. But the grappling school @ roufusport kinda fell apart, and I worry that the strikers will pay dearly. Pat Barry, Eric Schafer, Ben Rothwell, and Matt Mitrione all left the camp.
I heard that Pettis didn't put much time into his wrestling for the Guida fight, if that bit of information is true - it showed.

Pettis/Guida is a perfect example of why we should have 5 round main events.
But yeah, Pettis isn't over rated. He just needs a smarter corner to guide his ability. I mean, look at Melvin Guillard. Dude has reinvented himself. Why? Better coaching. No knock to Duke Roufus (legend IMO) but they had a bad strategy in dealing with guida.
Like seriously, everyone knows laying on your back and going for subs for 3 rounds is going to lead to a UD loss. His corner should've been drilling sweeps and reversals. His corner should've been drilling flying knees and uppercuts to counter the double leg. I mean seriously, if you know you're not gonna be able to sprawl it, might as well try to knock his ass out on the way in. Cuz being clinched up against the cage is viewed the same way as being on the bottom according to UFC judges (think Vera vs Couture). I think strikers should try sprawling in the 1st round. If they see that they can't, that's when the sweeps come into play. And if you get back to the feet, that's when those knee/uppercut counters come into play. You're gonna lose the takedown war. May as well try something to put some odds in your favor. Plus, even if you miss the knee, if you stand up again, they're gonna be just a bit more cautious about going for that take down again.
Duke is a Legend. He's a bad mofo fosho!
Ben Askren is apart of Roufusport, but I don't know how much he trains there.
I'd just like to point out that Anthony Pettis has usually been able to scramble with the best of them. If he did not train his wrestling, I blame the camp. If he did drill his wrestling, Guida is a badass mofo.
And another thing is Guidas stand up. The amount of motion he had and all that bouncing around was probably very awkward. I can't recall ever seeing anybody moving and jumping around that much @ Roufusport (I haven't trained their in about 8mo though). There was one good kick that landed on Guida when he didn't have anywhere to really go (he was near the fence)
Guidas style really countered Anthony's style extremely well.
Cowboy doesn't have a good style to counter Anthony. Cowboy is just trying to drawl attention and jump up the ladder.
