I love everything you just said! About chess, I used to play a lot and surprising can still hold my own in that game. Logic and puzzles... How chess relates to jiu jitsu is insane.

But yes, simple jits.. Every move has a counter, just as in chess. Addressing sub attempts before checked avoids checkmate. Only way to recognize the checks, is with mat experience. There's no secret to it.

i agree . i wish the physical part wasnt such a big deal. im sure its not at your level and others. but at my level i feel so weak sometimes. technique is crazy. comes with time i guess.

I use 1/4 Guard to DogFight all the time when I'm having issues with my minstomp to lockdown.

The Nog arm roll is another killer tool from 1/4 guard, traditional 1/2 guard, lockdown and even butterfly guard.

Its a great option as well when the knee is on the ground in 1/4 guard, and you missed your opportunity to block the knee as Bobby mentioned.

Its just the way you establish the under hook, trapping their overhook like its done in the mechanic.

This is about as close as I could find. Trapping the arm is the most important piece to get from it.
