I see Rick : )
Yeah man, the best defense is too play footsie with him. Straighten your legs out so the ankles are crossed and push him of the toe hold, then when he goes for a texas clover leaf pull your legs back into a figure 4/ Triangle position. You have to actively defend you foot while you try to attack his. Hence "playing footsie" Still have yet to master it myself, but I see Ryan Hall do this all the time in competition.
So, are spiral guard and De La Riva guard essentially the same thing?
As Eddie says..."Ass inside or ass outside" lol
:rolleyes:Great video. I love watching jiu jitsu videos and bopping my head to the hip hop soundtrack. I mean it's not like the instructor is saying anything we might want to hear... Maybe when Eddie gives the actual seminar, instead of talking he should just play music while he's showing the techniques. That would be a really worthwhile experience for all involved...
Here is some good action to watch, pretty much through the entire match

My next video on the 10th planet watch email list is regarding spiral inverted etc. guards
I talk about it on the thread I created "hate sifting through crappy techniques on YouTube" or something to that effect. I will ttt it later.
No, spiral you hook underneath and DLR you hook on the outside.
