Derrick, Get off Jones' dick then. Hat's off to Chael.

Clown fools. But in all seriousness. Just looking at it without any bias involved. There is a reason John Jones didn't take the fight being who he is. And there is a reason Chael stood up and took the fight being who he is. That is just that. Just simple facts. But any fighter back in the day would have called Jones a coward. If your that skilled and that talented and you are as ready as you'll ever be. Take the fight..
I'm not at all biased towards Jones.
I wanted to see him get knocked out by Hendo, though it seemed unlikely.
I'm not really much of a fan of his, but he deserves props for what he has done, and if you want to hate him, do it with something real, not fake indignation.
Also, I'll say it again.
Sonnen is a shit talker, who shit talks his way into fame.
He shit talked Anderson till he got his rematch, and lost it, and now he is shit talking another champ at a chance that he will be thrown a title shot.
I have no doubt that he wants to fight, and comes to fight, but his way of securing fights is low down.
He's said shit about fighters family members, and crossed the line too much with his act, and it's disgraceful.
The extreme fans of any fighter all seem to be sycophants in some respect.
You just lean towards Sonnen, as some people lean to Jones.
Personally the only fighter who's nuts I might be guilty of getting on are Randy's, or BJ.
Jones?
Not so much.
Hey, let's not slip in feinted personal attacks.
In all seriousness, do you think Chael thought for even a second that Jones would accept a fight with him?
Especially when 2 other people are in line for title shots. (Hendo and Machida)
If you actually believed that Chael thought that Jones would accept a fight with him just like that, then you're out of your mind. lol
Dude, when things just are as they are. I will root for Jones and I have before. He is talented there is no disputing that. But who he is as a person stinks to high heaven. He is fake. I don't care how you try to spell it. That is were the dislike comes from.
Chael is honest to a point. Outrageous to another. Anyone with a brain can tell when he actually means something and when he is trying to get into people's heads. Look at Diaz getting into GSP's head. That shit works! Do you want the situation with boxing's Floyd and Pac? Were they can't even agree to fight? That is where things are headed with people like Jones.
And in response to that. Dude, John's said he would smash Chael. That is a good enough invitation to me.
Because he wouldn't take a fight on 8 days notice?
Alrighty. lol
That just seems seething with bias...Quote:

Chael is honest to a point
I think Jones is pretty phoney with all his good christian act and whatnot, same with Bendo, I bet he has some gnarly skeletons in his closet.
But Chael is disrespectful and crosses the line.
Sure, a lot of it IS an act, and of course, anyone who doesn't know when he's clearly just bullshitting (like his whole thing about living on the hard streets having to see people liter) is being gullible.
But some of the shit he has said about people's families, crosses the line, kidding or not.
You can't just sweep that under the rug, this isn't pro wrestling, and while Chael's shit might be funny, it just gives a bad image to the sport, and that's really one of the things killing it also.
Same with people like Nick Diaz tbh, whom I am a huge fan of.
Sadly, he isn't putting up an act like Chael is, and it's led to brawls.
But yeah, not sure how you can only call Jones fake, and then give Chael a pass because he is funny.
You didn't answer my question though.
Do you really think Chael thought he would get the fight?
Chael is not stupid, and him throwing his name into this only made the situation worse.
Imagine if Hendo got Injured, and then the fight with Machida was set up for later this month.
Would anyone be throwing this much of a shit fit?
Chael flung shit at the situation when he knew Jones wouldn't take the fight with him.
Erm no. Chael got a phone call from dana asking him to fight jon. He said yes and offered to fly to vegas that same day. He didnt fling shit at anything. He thought it was on, dana thought it was on, they even started doing promo stuff for jones sonnen and then dana got the call saying jones wouldnt fight.
It was nothing to do with twitter or who warrented a shot. Dana said that in normal circumstances sonnen would have to beat 3 top guys to get a shot at jones. According to dana, he called multiple people asking them to jump in to save the card, they all turned it down due to it being on short notice. Even machida turned it down.
He called chael, he was the only guy to step up, and Jones wouldnt fight him.
He shouldn't of called Chael in the first place, if all the other guys at that weight turned the fight down, then asking Chael was just grasping at straws for a replacement.
The way it turned out now is how it should be, a little time for both fighters to acclimate, and the next in line for the title to get it.
Besides, so many people think that Machida could take Jones in a rematch, and now we get to see if that's true.
Not really. Fighters get injured. It's a partially torn MCL. Nothing would've saved it. Even if he rested it for the 2 weeks leading up to the fight. Ironic how badly you're defending Jones considering that you wanted him to lose.
WTF. Hendo is priimarily a striker? Nah, he's an olympic level wrestler. He just prefers to KO people these days.
And Machida can turn it down for short notice because he hasn't had a full fight camp. Jones has.
No, actually, the one who was taking the fight on 8 days notice was Chael. Jones had a full fight camp. IDK what's so hard to understand about that. Peak physical shape vs. 8 days of preparation. Seems your Chael bias is stronger than your Jones dislike.
And you would have too if you were trying to save millions of dollars.
I'm not defending Jones per say, I just disagree with your reasons for being angry at him, and it seems more like a chance for people to be outraged over nothing.Quote:

He is a piece of shit for drunk driving, he's a moron for getting baited into a twitter war with Chael, and he is cocky for thinking he is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
He's completely un-humble, and he needs to be humbled in defeat before he can change his tune.
A true champion has faced loss and come back to avenge it and keep moving, he's still not there yet.
But...to blame him for this entire mess, is a little much.
He didn't get Hendo hurt, and he didn't ask to fight Chael (aside from in some little stupid argument on twitter, and everyone knows twitter is serious business).
That's like saying the Diaz brothers aren't strikers because they are amazing grapplers at the same time.Quote:

If Jones just stands and trades, so will Hendo, but chael is just looking for the takedown.
Completely different fighters, all around.
Even if he just came out of a training camp, it was a camp to fight Hendo, not Chael.Quote:

There is a difference, and if you really want to hinge on this supposed style match between Chael and Hendo, take two minutes to look at the guy's records and watch some fights of theirs.
Chael and Hendo fight two completely different games, and there is no reason Jones should have to agree to fight him on that short of notice.
Maybe if this weren't a title fight, but the fact of the matter is that it is a title fight, and there are 2 people in line for shots at it.
Chael is not one of them.
Circumstances aside, the only people whom seem to be majorly outraged are Chael fans, or Jones haters.
I'm pretty disappointing, but I'm not outraged.
I don't get in the cage to fight, so I have no grounds to really call out a fighter for ducking or anything like that.
I've got no idea what it's like to train for that long for one specific fight, and then be told 8 days in advanced that my opponent is changing.
With this much on the line, who could blame Jones for backing out?
That's a very valid point, and I can concede that.Quote:
And you would have too if you were trying to save millions of dollars.
But yeah, my only point is that it's kind of childish to call Jones a pussy, or that he "wet himself" over the prospect of fighting Chael.
He fought every guy at 205 whom no one wants to fuck with, and beat them.
I doubt he is scared of Chael Sonnen.
But sure, props to Chael for agreeing to take the fight.
im not blaming jones for the cancelation of 151, hes responsable for himself. the ufc should have had a back up plan incase something happens. also dana white is money hungry and needed to put the blame on someone besides himself. if dana kept 151 on schedule all fighters would have gotten to fight and got paid. the number of ppv sales would have went down dramaticly due to no main event, also the card itself lacked any star quality so jones vs whoever was needed. the ufc wouldnt of made much money on this card without the main event but IT COULD have happened
I'm not sure how hard it would have been to do on such short notice, but they should of just switched it to a free card, and if Chael was really that eager to fight, they could of gotten someone to fight him.
I would of watched Chael VS whoever on a free card and sat through some adverts.
This certainly doesn't make ufc look like it's got the fans in mind.
Dana always talks about exciting fights for the fans, but it really is just fights the fans will pay for.
agreed
I hate myself knowing there was a time in my life that I didnt like Chael. That guy is quickly becoming my favorite.
While 151 had only one fight I wanted to watch, the headliner, Toronto is in for a treat I think. There's like six fights now that I want to watch from that card. Congrats to Toronto
Machidas out Vitor Belfort vs Jon Jones!!!! Its going down!!!!!!!!!
Belfort/Jones Machida/Jones, those fights do not interest me tbh. The whole situation is a huge mess. Although i prefer the Belfort fight of the 2.
There is no way you can defend Jon Jones here. You can say you understand his logic all you like but the fact remains, if you asked any other UFC champion/fighter to have fought to save the show, and the company millions, (except maybe Benson Henderson) all of them would have said 'yes sure'. He had a full camp preparation, NONE of his potential opponents had any camp at all. Also the potential opponents are from the weight division below him.
Jones fucked up. Lucky for him he is so good or he would be getting cut about now.
your obviously an iddiot ! i'm a jones fan so i stay loyal and could give a fuck if he fights chael or not. so i'm not jumping on his dick because i've been a fan since he fought bonner, i bet you never gave a fuck about chael until he fought silva the first time, so " who's the dick rider " ?
and your the only one making shit personal on this thread. your an obvious " iddiot & a dousche "
Speculation.
I doubt that of GSP, or Franky when he was the champ, and Bendo too of course.
This whole situation was a clusterfuck, and it was made worse by some of the names thrown at their as potential opponents.
This isn't some non title fight main event, you would be hard pressed to see champs wage their belt in a gamble when they have been training to fight one specific guy for the past few months.
UFC should of had a better back up plan, like a whole new main event
Jones didn't cancel the card, the UFC did.
They just want you to believe that this was solely Jones's decision, like he just said "hey, I wont take another fight, so cancel the whole card."
I totally agree with the UFC building a foolish card. They took a huge risk in hoping that neither guy would get hurt and it back fired. So in that respect I totally agree. But again, my thing is that the UFC made Jon Jones. There would be no Jon Jones without the UFC. He'd have no title to defend. He'd have no Bentley to crash. They sponsor him. They fast tracked him to the title. After everything they've done to help him (even with all the recent bad press surrounding his DUI), the least he can do is help them out when THEY are in a bind. Jones is not SOLELY to blame. But his decision definitely reflects negatively on him.
Yes the style matchup is different. But just like Jones said that Hendo has nothing that he hasn't seen, Chael has nothing that he hasn't seen either. This is a guy who ragdolls huge guys like Bonnar, owns stronger wrestlers than CHael (Think Hammil and Bader).
And i"m not a Chael fan or a Jones hater. I'm actually a huge Jones fan and have been defending dude for a long time. I just can't bring myself to defend this. If he were another guy....say JDS or even GSP, I wouldn't be too upset. But the UFC made this guy. The least he can do is be a good company man.

Thought this was interesting.
All the ufc did was give him a shot to prove himself, and he has.Quote:

Personal problems aside, he has the belt, and he earned it by going through to top of the 205 division.
He wasn't obligated to take the fight, so he really did nothing wrong.
It might be a shot at his character (as though anyone would give a fuck if they had more reasons to dislike him already), but he didn't do anything he couldn't do, so it's not his fault.
The ufc is responsible for the UFC.
They put so much faith in his star power alone, that they made a single fight main event, with no co main event to fall back on.
That is 100% their fault, and every has been saying how the UFC is coddling Jones and giving him a shit load of extra opportunities on the off chance that he will be their new golden boy.
I am just perplexed at how people aren't calling out the UFC for doing this, and laughing at how it's biting them in the ass now.
so many people thought this card was an insult, as though people will pay for anything simply because Jones is fighting on the card.
Well, they clearly had no faith in the rest of the fighters on that card, so the UFC canceled all their fights, and financially hurt them.
Not Jones.
And now Dana is in blame mode, acting as though this card falling apart is all Jones's fault, as though he made a weak card that relied on 2 fighters staying healthy up till fight day.
And all these guys saying a champ should fight anyone any time no matter what, well, why did Machida turn the fight down?
If it's anytime anywhere then why would a former champ turn down a fight with the current champ for any reason?
Boys not to worry Vitor Belfort is here to fight on the card... Or try to fight.
Im of 2 minds, part of me thinks that Jones should have taken the fight after whining that he doesnt get opponents that draw big numbers ie Machida. At first glance I thought at least Jones would have had a camp and Chael not much of one, then I read an interview by Winklejohn which pointed out the coincidence that Chael started the smack talk a few weeks ago ... when Hendos camp knew he was injured. Maybe just a coincidence or it may be Chael was ramping up for just such a challenge if Hendo didnt turn around ...
