what is that mat? It doesn't look very soft, kinda small and you guys are on a concrete floor with metal cages around and some other wrestlers seem to be ambling into yalls areas. seems kinda dangerous. good jits going on though. joes got some suprisingly good sweeps
Brandon are all these guys your students?
good job guys
All beasts.
Honestly those mats were pretty soft. If anyone should know, it would be me. I tried 3 flying triangles, got one :) and that flying armbar on Joe that I landed pretty hard on. The barrier around the rings were super soft plastic as well so not really a danger. The tournament thought it was going to be really small but got a little bigger so should be able to upgrade next time.
You land hard because you haven't drilled your setups and techs. Good commitment right direction. Good be way deadlier.
This is a public callout. Drastic measures.

WOW, that Sorcerer was tight. That kid had nooooo clue what was happening. Awsome work!!
Excellent thread. 5 stars.
Hey Scott Philips, that sweep I was talking about in post #43, is that something that you have repped out and was that the expected response from Joe?
That was kind of a freestyle but I've gotten similar live reps.. I just felt a way something could potentially happen and attempted. He based well but it opened space for me to get back to full open guard. I really had no plan after that shitty flying armbar attempt and just went with the flow. I had a ton of respect for Joes grappling ability but haven't rolled him before so had no idea what areas of my game he would shut down.
here's a modified croc against a purple in the gi but not the best angle. It's only on my facebook because I'm having issues extracting files from my android phone to my macbook computer. fn technology

We do not drill it like that. We keep our f'n lockdown through the sweep to ensure control and the pass. Scott was a lil wirey and got away with mistakes because of his scrambling ability. We never want to use that crutch. His halfguard IS good, but he was loose there.
We have addressed it since. Just because something works is sometimes negative reinforcement. Take it to the lab and make it cleaner and tighter and even explore other options. Especially when you start to 'freestyle'. A solid drill and posish knowledge will trump that everytime.
Nice. Thanks Bobby.
