It's hypothetical remember?
So hypothetically, it funds the Advanced class. If you never got ranked in gi, you might not have to pay it.

So I moved out to the Seattle area about a year ago. I started with Joe Durham and the other 10th planet indy OG's when we got the affiliation and helped to teach a some there. My intention out here was to start a hot box, but it has been a difficult move both financially and in the amount of time I spend commuting. That said, it is still a goal of mine and I would love to get together with any of the other 10 peeps out here. I currently have been training at Mat Chess MMA in the U district. It's a great gym with a high level of instruction, and very open minded to the point my coaches strategy for my last tourney was to jump guard and play my 10th planet game. I've trained with Phill, Nathan, and the other guys in Portland as well. I would like to make a trip to HQ this summer to let Eddie evaluate my progress and move forward from there. I currently live in Everett, WA but will be moving somewhere between here and Burlington, WA soon. Anyway, anybody in the area PM me phone #'s and we can start getting together to work things out.
This guy^ knows his shit and will be one of your best training partners you could ever have. He is my brother for life and I will always have his back. We miss you dearly Aaron!
I am in Bellingham. If you're moving towards Burlington that's not far away at all. We should def get together and train. I train at a very open gym and I rep the 10P system there hard. I'm a former 10P Portland warrior under John Salami before he bolted for Cali and I migrated up here. Anyways I'd love to get together and train. Seattle is too far for my crazy busy life right now. Could make it down there some but not regularly. But I would do whatever I can to help the movement to get a Seattle hotbox going
Yeah. My life is crazy right now. I live in Everett, train in Seattle, and work in Issaquah. It's a long drive, but the level of skill and instruction at Mat Chess is amazing. My main concern with finding a gym was that most schools seemed to be very gi oriented, and not to open to 10th planet specific techniques. I feel very lucky to have found a place that not only tolerates my 10th planet style and gear, but encourages me to use it and integrate it into what I am learning there.
Thanks Joe. If it wasn't for you 10th planet indy would have been lost a long time ago. I miss having someone that was exactly the same size and experience level so that it was clear when one of us was getting lazy! We should have a "who the fuck are these guys" invitational super fight next time we get together. :) Glad to hear you're back on the mats!
Zombie thread resurrected. Any new updates?
I'll be in Seattle for a bit following the NW NoGI Summit! I'd love to stop by a couple spots.
Whoa. That would be awesome. "Stop by" like, drop in to local gyms?
Let me know if you're interested in popping into Elite BJJ in either Redmond or Factoria. I'd like to double-check that there wouldn't be a drop-in charge for folks that are members at their home academies.
As to the long-term existence of a 10p Seattle, I'm trying to make inroads on my side. As a white belt with 1.5 years under my belt, I don't have a lot of clout. But I would dearly love to see some kind of association between Elite BJJ and 10th Planet. Elite has four locations East / North East of Seattle. Three of them are easy driving distance for me and ostensibly could be for an ambitious 10th Planeteer. If there was enough interest, maybe we could have a 10th Planet guy teaching here and there.
But again, I lack clout and only have white belt thoughts and feelings. ;)
How's the Elite in Redmond? I live in Maple Valley and I'm looking for a place. Specifically, how's the no-gi class or classes? I have Mondays and Tuesdays off so their schedule would be ideal for me.
I really like it Jason, but to get the most of your nogi experience, you're going to have to make it up to Redmond.
TLDR version: Monday is nogi night in Redmond. Tuesday isn't nogi night anywhere but you can go to class in Factoria or Redmond, whichever you prefer. We train on Saturdays as well.
Highlights:
* No-gi on Mondays in Redmond (2 hours) taught by a really open minded guy who usually prefers nogi and is conversant on 10th Planet stuff (he corrected my armbar attacks from spiderweb). He has a really interesting approach to the guard that I wish someone could study, systematize and evangelize.
* No-gi on Fridays in Factoria (1 hour for now) taught by a black belt who I feel teaches really well and focuses on fundamentals.
* You're welcome to train in Bothell and Everett
* If you're willing to train both gi and nogi, 50/50 like Marcelo Garcia, I think you'll enjoy the instruction of 5 time World Champion Miriam Cardoso. She's a great lady and her technique is too astounding.
* It's jiu jitsu. You're sposed to train jiu jitsu. ;)
* If you train on Mondays, we can sharpen our 10th Planet skills together.
* The school is 95% open minded.
Stop by for a free class, find out yourself? :) Maybe we'll be forging the first links in the chain of a new 10p movement in Washington.

Let us know how we can help :)
If I felt I were skilled enough to be a main instructor I'd move to Seattle and open a place up in a hot second. Love that city. Maybe some time.
Anyone starts a place up and wants any help... XD
Hey y'all,
So I've been having an ongoing conversation with Brent Smith of 10th Planet Oregon, trying to arrange for him to come up here to the frigid north to do a seminar. Progress is somewhat slow, but I have a little traction and I'm trying to figure out how to proceed.
I have more than one goal here but chief among them is to establish a 10th planet identity up here.
If you're in Washington on the West Side of the mountains, would you be interested in a 10th Planet seminar in Redmond or Factoria?
If so, what would you be interested in learning?
I think if we can get enough interest in this, it will be easier to get the location sorted and maybe even put a date on this thing.
I don't own all of Oregon :)
I'm in Seattle from time to time. Maybe one of these days I'll get some rolls in with y'alls.
True, but Oregon owns YOU. ;)
That would be amazing. :D Let me know how I can help!
On a side note, I got to meet Jason Bruton in person! It was fun training with you sir.

I was in Seattle a couple months back and drove down and back to Portland three days straight to train with Prof. Orchard. 3 hours, yea, but man a BEAUTIFUL drive. Evergreen trees as far as the eye could see. I digress tho. If I were at a school in Seattle, I would see if my instructor would be down with bringing him or some other talent up for a seminar. Wealth of knowledge and I felt I jumped a couple levels training with him.
I've talked with a gym owner up here. Got a thumbs up. But I don't want to bring anybody up here without doing the groundwork necessary to pack that gym out on seminar day. If I help somebody get a seminar going, I want everybody to be happy it went down.
I'm invested in it, you know? And I might not get many shots at this.
I would be interested in training.
I am in Bellevue Washington.
Let's do work fellas. (:
