I think that Eddie probably will have more class than Royce and probably won't air the dirty laundry about it. Probably say what happened, but that's about it. I don't personally know Eddie though.

It's like there has been a cosmic shift post match. It's amazing all the positive things I'm seeing in support of Eddie and all the negative stuff about Royler and Royce specifically. Hopefully this is the end of the bullshit arguing about 10th planet not being effective etc.

Royler seemed really humble and was having fun competing with Eddie, even on twitter he was retweeting a guy saying Eddie gave him a beating. When they were tied up they were laughing with each other it seemed. Royler is one of the top competitors of all time and doesn't seem to have much of an Ego. As for Royce... Seems about par for the course. I've met him in person and he's not a very nice guy from my interaction with him.

Jesus christ, this is ridiculous. I absolutely have respect for Helio, Carlos and the other OG's where Brazilian Jiu Jitsu came from don't get me wrong. But does anyone else get a little annoyed about how much the Gracies and their minions talk about Helio? They put him on this untouchable pedestal like a Greek god and they take almost any talk of him as the worst blasphemy in the universe. Yes, we all have respect for Helio and where BJJ came from, no one disputes that if they have half a brain, but just chill out, hes not jesus christ, hes not god, hes not Muhammad, hes not zeus. They get "offended" so fuckin easily and take everything out of context like they are just waiting for someone to say something so they can jump down their throat and have another opportunity to talk about Helio. And yes I understand that he is your father, grandfather, etc. Everytime I here someone talk about Helio (especially a Gracie) I have to take a deep breath. The Gracies are like religious fundamentlists and treat themselves, their family, and the gi as sacred and holy. ALOT of pride and hubris in that family. Maybe its because I am young, but to me the only Gracies I really care for and look up to are Rickson and Kron. But maybe that's just my young, naïve, blue belt opinion, I don't know....

I think Royler was smiling to mask his terror, not cause he was having fun. Maybe I just read things wrong but it didn't seem friendly at all. It actually seemed pretty heated and intense to me.

This is 100% true!
Met Royce twice at seminars in the late 90s.
Arrogant is all I can say.
I paid a couple hundred dollars for each seminar and he acted like he was put out to be there.
Forget about asking him a question or approaching him in any way.
Rorion on the other had was extremely nice and very cordial.
Royce's biggest fan is himself.
Eddie would put him in a wheelchair.
Royce really shouldn't be threatening anybody past blue belt. Lol
After his BJJ match against Wallid Ismael in the late 90s (where he was put to sleep by Wallid in an arena in Brazil), Wallid commented that he was surprised at Royce's poor performance and said even blue belts should have been able to defend the choke he used.
It's Sad. A lot of people got into BJJ because of Royce. It's like he is trying everything he can to poison his legacy.
Really disappointing behavior.
If the Gracie name were a stock, the price would be plummeting right now.
I am hoping that Eddie's display of skill, effectiveness of 10th Planet and extreme level of sportsmanship will help serve that family (Helios side anyway) some humble pie!

Exactly what I think it is. I've been noticing this for a while. Some schools have Carlos Gracie's pic up. Some have Helio. Rarely do you see both. And the Helio side seems to be very cultish about Helio worship. Maybe Eddie didn't realize that was a sore spot and thought he was thanking the Gracies and instead of taking the compliment, they probably saw it as a jab like Eddie was saying Carlos' lineage is better than Helio's. That's my guess. They're a sensitive bunch those Helio guys.

Every story of a Royce seminar i've heard has been like this. Always tales of him ignoring questions, showing nothing but classic basics, and being so arrogant he can't be bothered to do what hes there for. It's always a dig when someone you grew up hespetching turns out to be a clown....

Agreed. Eddie has shown nothing but complete respect for Gracies past and present. All the while, the Gracie family prove themselves unworthy of his respect.

From what Ive seen Renner is a cool guy and although he probably couldn't get out of Eddie's twister, that doesn't mean that the breakdown was bullshit, Renner probably did most of the talking because he normally host the gracie breakdown.
