White
Fuck it. White it is. Problem solved. I'll sandbag
If you have no belt, never earned a belt, or received one, then you are a white belt.
Problem solved. Please don't let my stupidity get in the way of any of the techniques. They are solid
Hmmm interesting video. When I tried it I found that when I got my opponent's hand to the mat I didn't need the shoulder guard. I get a free chill dog or New York instead. Also, when I get my hand under the leg to initiate shoulder guard, I find that they have too much space between the back and my leg, and they get up with strong stacking. Am I doing something wrong?
Make sure that you go to a full perpendicular angle and position yourself completely on the side of your body. Your back should NOT be on the mat. If they posture, kick your thigh into them to increase the angle. Or just transition to rubber guard. I use this to lessen torque on my joints from big guys. I just feel like this is for safety. Reliable and safe
I was wondering why I had never heard of an American Top Team affiliate in Franklin. Quite frankly, I don't remember one being there even 3 months ago... We here at ATT CT have Ricardo Liborio come for seminars all the time (as well as other ATT coaches and fighters) and I can tell you quite honestly that Liborio would lose his mind if he sees you in ATT gear, as if you are representing them. The rank thing is cardinal sin #1. The lying affiliation thing is #2. Honestly, I'm not a snitch but you need to correct any misperception anytime soon, brother, including lineage, with your history of training and number of years, real rank, real affiliation, any form of competitive record, and how long you've posed/been an instructor. Best to you and I hope this gets cleared up. I've been really looking hard for a 10th Planet nearby and was gonna reach out to you, but this is disheartening.
^this would be helpful. Or at the minimum show some sparring with it used.
the balls on these guys to claim rank that has not been earned and given.
the ones that claim black belts are the best though.
To be honest, despite all of the confusion I have tried that choke from temporary mission control and the shoulder lock from mission control that's kinda like the carny, and I thought they were pretty technically sound. I do a lot of weird things in closed guard/ rubber guard that I've never seen anyone else do.
I just try not to say, show, teach, or make videos of things that I don't have TONS of proof for. If you're not ready to prove the validity of a technique or your rank or whatever it is then don't speak up about it. Especially not on this forum. It only accepts excellence. Only speak in honesty. That's my advice man.
To get this back on track.
How important is the foot on the hip, as important as with rubber guard? Without it, is anything stoping the being heavy/control on the leg pass to half/side?
Thank you. The foot on the hip is irrelevant. Only the angle matters. You need to get your hips completely out from under him. If he passes to half guard, a carny hook and a gogo are the answer. Otherwise, if your hips are still under him, even slightly, I would recommend a meat hook. This guard is useless unless you are completely at his side
What's stopping the guy on top from killing your angle by squaring you up? The other hand isn't monitoring the head. Vids of live roll pls.
See apology thread.
Except I was looking for an answer to my question, not some half ass retort.
Nope, Nope, Nope
Yeah im suspicious. First of all if you say that it works against a big opponent, you should probably use a bigger opponent than yourself. secondly, youre advanced option to get into it, where you stretch out his arm. super easy to turtle up from if he pulls his arm down. using both hands there is just inefficient. thirdly especially if he was bigger than you, whats stopping him from hooking your leg, lifting it up and posting on his leg? from posting up on his leg, especially when he is bigger than you, he can square up limp arm and even go for a leg locks. fourth point, how easy is it really to get any of these submissions? Ive got a choke that is similar to the first one you showed and when showing the technique its super legit but ive never pulled it off on anyone when rolling. and why the williams guard arm through? you might as well meat hook him. and why do you grab the leg you swing over his shoulder with your hand on top rather than your hand underneath the leg? i mean sure the choke might be better but youre playing against a bigger dude here and having the hand like that makes it way easier to posture up doesnt it?
also because the guy is smaller than you in the video his trapped arm is pushed back at a great angle for omoplata attacks carni etc thing is though is that a decent guy isnt going to leave that there for you, postures up a wee bit and he gets the angle to pop it around the other way, then he can block your movement a bit and squaring you up is easier. but hey im only a white belt, what would a white belt know right?
and finally for your information, if you want to rep a technique on here and have it respected, it needs legitimacy, ie. live rolls or better yet comp footage. its expected. get some good guys with it and it could be the new hindulotine, make snide remarks when someone asks for some proof and make false claims to your own legitimacy and you move isnt even up there with the puppet master.
Finally looked this thread up for some light sunday reading. Lol
