There you go. Edited. Watch your run on sentences and be sure to proof-read.
Ok, no one else reply. seriously, 1/10 troll this time
I agree! However, I try to maintain a mostly vegetarian based diet. It has nothing to do with religion or being righteous. It also has nothing to do with any negative feelings towards meat eaters. I choose to eat a primarily vegetarian diet because of the way my body responds in a healthy manner to the foods I eat. I don't fault people for eating meat, if it works for them, awesome!
Some bodies aren't cut out to eat meat. It varies on your digestive system, blood type, acidity in your stomach and other factors.
If anyone is being righteous for any reason, they deserve to be told off in the manner that Neggroll21 so eloquently put it. To make a general statement that all vegetarians are hippies and should go fuck off, is ignorant and places him on the same pedestal of righteousness as a meat eater, in the same manner that he hates vegetarians for being righteous hippies.
Chill with the blind aggression, go roll your frustrations out. LOL

Go neggroll!!!
The Cherokee Indians have an old story they tell. It goes,
before the dawn of history, everything was perfect. Nature was in balance and the cycle of life was even. Then the human began to multiply. The plants couldnt take care of all the humans anymore, so the humans had to resort to killing the animals for food. This angered the animals, so they got together and held a council. They agreed that for every animal the was killed there would be a new disease released to the humans.
I know its an old indian story, but it was told to me by an old medicine man in the Cherokee nation in NC. I never told him I was vegan or didnt eat meat either. Just some food for thought. Oh and about your brother, Just because he went vegetarian doesnt mean he had a healthy diet. People think that just because a food is vegetarian that it is healthy. that couldnt be further from the truth. Ice Cream and Twinkies are vegetarian... Cookies are vegetarian. Cheese is vegetarian. It is extremely easy to be an unhealthy vegetarian if you dont know what the hell you are doing. It has to be a Whole Foods plant Based Diet. Whole Foods means unprocessed! No added oils, or processed sugar. Whole Fruits and Vegetables, with cereal grains. No enriched white flour... NOTHING. Hell Vegetarians drink milk. Everyone know milk is one of the worst things for you. 80% of the protien in kilk is Caesine. Caesine is the glue the use to put labels on beer bottles. Also, EVERYONE in the MD field knows the Excess amount of protein inhibits Calcium Absorbtion, so that means the calcium in milk is completely useless.... Think about that for a change. Oh and the low fat dairy product... even worse because when you drop the fat out, the ratio of protien goes up so you get even less Calcium! Not to mention that dairy lowers the ph of you body to a more acidic level, and how does your body fix the ph levels? It uses calcium from the biggest supply it has... YOUR BONES. When your body used us the calcium in your bones they get weak, and thats called Osteoporosis! WTF Right?! If you dont think its true, look at the dairy capitols of the world. Denmark, Sweden, and the US ALL HAVE HIGHER RATES OF OSTEOPOROSIS THAN ANY OTHER NATION! Now why is that?! Just some food for thought. ;)
I have always been an opponent of milk since I was a teenager. I've argued from the position of cow's milk is meant for cows, even cows eventually stop nursing when their body is done needing milk. Same with humans, there is a point in time where a child no longer needs to breast feed. Humans supplement their children's diet with cow's milk for a period of time and then they should stop. Our bodies aren't designed to digest cows milk. That's why cheese constipates and so many people are naturally lactose intolerant... it's their bodies way of saying NO MORE MILK!
In all of that uneducated arguing that I did in the past, I just based it off of logic as a teen.
Now that I have read your argument Brandon, I wasn't that far off. I just lacked the scientific data. Thanks for clarifying and providing proof!
So how else shall we get our calcium intake?
Well you could take the second hand advice a witch doctor supposedly gave to someone on an BJJ forum... or you could read what Harvard has to say on the issue (http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritio...um-full-story/). I know I know, Harvard is bought and paid for by the diary lobby..bla bla bla
By mining for pure calcium deposits and ingesting them in powder form nasally, in public, using a mirror and razor blade to chop it up into fine "lines." I'm joking by the way.
Also since we're going off of locker room science to dictate our health and nutrition, we gotta stop eating all salt altogether. Salt is a natural anti-freeze, and we all know that anti-freeze can kill you. I'm kidding of course =D.
Oh yeah, and since animals like gorillas are "strong" and don't eat cooked foods, if we eat only raw foods we can be strong....like gorilla. Again.....kidding, but I swear I've heard this from some people. Not to say that salads aren't delicious =D.
The older a belief is and the more people that believe it....the more true it is right, regardless of mounds and mounds of evidence to the contrary to widely held beliefs? Like sea monsters and falling off the "edge of the world" being legitimate sea hazards for sailors during the bronze age.
calcium is abundant in greens like spinach, collard grens, kale and sesame seeds, black strap molasses etc...and studies (including a recent one by the BMJ involving over 60,000 women AND one involving children) show that calcium via milk (and supplements) have little to know benefit in the best case, and may be harmful in the worst case.
It's also been shown that populations with the highest intake of dairy based calcium have the highest incidences of hip/bone fracture.
I read it... did you? You can cherry a quote that is referring to prostate cancer risk in men that take twice the RECOMMENDED dose of calcium but you might want to scroll down and read their recommendations as well.
Tubbs, I was responding to JC who was asking about how we can get calcium. This article is a good overview on calcium and milk and points out some of the things that should be considered - which you cleverly pointed out. I'm not taking half-informed cheap-shots at anyone, just helping to educate.
The original witch doctor line would imply cheap shot. The quote I posted was a summary of ALL the potential pitfalls it mentioned. Given what is written in the article and other articles it's a safe bet that milk and calcium supps are not necessary and could be harmful.
Implying that that type of info is related to a 'witch doctor' relegates it to myth or mumbo jumbo, when in fact the article you posted supports that.
Your implication was that the Cherokee story/myth/legend whatever was the stuff of 'witch doctor' and we should listen to the Harvard study.
Cherokee story says animals used as food = disease. Harvard study said animal as food (milk) = disease.
Really the Cherokee story is here nor there, you are the one that related it to witch doctor status and tossed out a study to back up your statement, the study was the opposite, but thank you for playing. We have some lovely parting gifts for you on your way out.
You obviously still haven't read the article...and you are attributing a position to me that I am not taking. You been drinkin flouridated water?
ok
Buddhism has a lot to say about the karmic implications of eating animals. I eat critters anyway but I honestly feel so much better when I don't; physically and spiritually. My Crohn's behaves better, I have more energy, and I don't stay sore after training for nearly as long. Even just a few extra non-meat meals a week makes a difference. I don't think I could ever give up meat entirely and I am a sucker for ice cream (once in a great while), but it really does make a notable difference in my life when I at least minimize meat.
It's just food for thought. Even an ancient native american tribe believes that eating meat is a bad thing. You will also find other similar myths/legends from other cultures. Ancient and indigenous people eat meat, but even there beliefs say that it is bad. Like I said, just food for thought.
McDonalds has it sorted. They've got something for everyone!!!
the way I see it as long as chimps do it so can we so since they like to eat smaller primates or monkeys and are 3x stronger than us maybe more than doesn't that mean we should also eat smaller primates or monkeys to get that chimp strength or at least eat some god damn baby's for Christs sake I mean come on wake up people cannibalism is in
I support the protection of the lives and feelings of all plants. They deserve to be treated humanely and allowed to live. Save a vegetable and eat meat!

I eat meat, but I try to minimize it to Chicken, free range, etc. If I get burgers I can't eat anything but Grass Fed (they are tasty). However, I do respect Vegetarians if they are doing it for the right reasons. I do NOT like ones who look down on you for being a meat eater, but I have no problem with them sharing propaganda like the new Forks Over Knives documentary.
growing is alot better then killing trust me.
