By the way good old Brosef here trains at different clubs on regular basis around Hamilton so I think it speaks volumes on the training he's getting with us...
Let's just be douchey for a second and can you mention a few of your grappling achievements? (all are not under my training. Joesef started to train regularly with us at the end of last year)
Just so people can have an idea on who trains at fighter factory and to show that we've got plenty of experienced grapplers looking after the newer guys

i regularyly competing and placing in the australasian bjj curcit will-machados/pan pasifics champs, abu dhabi trails, nz submission wrestling trials and im training under john at fighter factory and his class is very structured and runs smooth some of the best coaching i had i think andrew ho should go back to his yu-gi-oh cards ive never heard anything bad on the mat except from this clown

Wow! Hold on just for a second there Andrew Ho, I think there is a few things we need to get straight before you continue disrespecting our gym.

I've been training with John for 8 months and I think he is an amazing teacher! I really like how he breaks down each move step by step, and encourages us to really put in the reps so that by the end of the week we literally know the techniques backwards. Last night my drilling partner was a guy that had no training in jiu jitsu whatsoever and by the end of the class he was able to execute those techniques without a problem, so I guess that would cover what you say "cator people of various skill levels...". Also you told us you had 5 years of Jiu jitsu training we thought you would of fitted in fine.

To my knowledge the 10th planet system is something that is continuously evolving, we do not judge where a move comes from as long as it works! So how is it after what we learnt last night (Marcelo guard passes and far side armbar, to north/south choke to near armbar to north/south choke) you can say, "I wasn't even taught anything remotely 10th planet...." Were you expecting to just come in and learn nothing but the rubber guard n the twister?

lol checked out some of his videos. pretty funny, the dude seems weird too (like mental problems). i hope hes not related to the Ho dynasty. also hes got advertising enabled on his youtube account, maybe hes just posting this shit so we all check out his page to create attention/make a couple cents.

I'm sorry this guy went and slandered you like that, John, but I don't think it's unreasonable for people to take someone at their word about something like this, especially since we didn't know if it was a legit 10th Planet school or not. Imagine if he were telling the truth and everyone was like, "Oh yeah, well what were you wearing? Sounds like you were asking for it."

But now that the dust has settled, I hope this doesn't negatively affect your school in any way.

I see your point and that's why I want to keep that thread up so my name, my club and mostly my boys don't get affected by his slander.
I've worked pretty hard to create a friendly atmosphere where I can trust my guys to take care for each other and take care of anybody jumping on the mat. We are a tight group that train hard but we do it safely and in a fun environment!
We always spend time with the new guys helping them out if they struggle and if I judge the techniques are a bit too advanced for a brand new dude I get one of my boys to work on something basic.
I believe it helps them to become better at teaching but also understanding the mechanism behind a move since they have to break it down for a total beginner.

In this case Andrew introduced himself has being an MMA instructor with 5 years or so of experience in grappling. I don't run background check on people so I assumed armbars and north/south chokes would be that challenging for him.

Sure most of my guys are experienced and we don't have enough pure beginners to have a "beginners class" but we always manage to bring them up to our level and so far guys like Henry Tang and Kereti made it to this day with no previous experience and train like everybody else.

This guy is a Joke!!!! I went to watch his video and could get about 2:30 min in to it before I had to shut it off. That is how you train. Find a Mc Dojo!!!!

Hate Wagon rolls pretty fast and hard sometimes on the 10th planet forum. Sometimes its parked on your head before all the facts get turned in. I still got some wheel marks on my face..........but most of the time it gets worked out and the wagon moves on.lol

That dude was at my seminar, I could never forget him. He was super ultra hardcore 10P, but there is definitely something unique about him. I trust John a million percent, he's about as loyal nibiru warrior as you can get. This Andrew Ho dude talking shit on John is actually super funny to me. Read that review again now knowing that he's operating on some kind of special brain wattage, Dude is on another level if you know what I mean. 10th Planet Hamilton is gonna rock! :)

I don't normally chime in on these threads but I should point out something Andrew said in his vlog (8:05). He didn't understand why they drilled armbars and 'regular' stuff. There was no rubber guard or anything "10th Planet". Last time I checked, we are all training JIU JITSU and that means 10th Planet is BASED on it. We would be remiss NOT to train on EVERYTHING jiu jitsu, including 'regular' stuff.

I remember going to HQ 3 years ago and getting SMASHED by the brown belts. That was amazing. It showed me what I NEEDED to do to get better. I was the best thing for me.

It just sounds like Andrew ate a huge slice of humble pie and he doesn't like the taste.

I think it speaks a lot that he is so bitter about it. When I get smashed that hard at a new gym, I got excited knowing that I found another level of difficulty that I have to master. I'm always in awe of how much better people can be at jiujitsu, it gives me something tangible to strive for.

Ok ive trained with John about 3 times and competed against his guys, they are totally legit great people!!!

Also John is this the guy who almost died from puffing at the seminar after stretching?

Okay i have been training with john since before he opened up the gym and started full time coaching and i have nothing but praise for him as a coach. I began as a relatively high level wrestler (gold medals in both nz nationals and oceania champs) and before training with john i had two options either hold my opponent down if there technique wasnt great or get subbed if they were good. since john has taken an interest in my grappling i have been able to finish grappling matches in competition and win mma fights via submission. As we are still quite a small gym we have the luxury of having john cater the techniques we learn to best suit us as his pupils instead of just training a curriculum. John is also more than just a coach to the members of our gym as he is also a friend who actively encourages the team atmosphere inside and out of the gym.

I take offense at a lot of the things andrew has said about our gym and im not really sure where to start on the nonsense he is spouting but safety is always our #1 concern, we have a range of different experience levels and sizes and to my knowledge john is the only one who has suffered any injuries (barring a few cauliflower ears :) ).

To be honest it seems to me that andrew is just butthurt that all of his youtube learnin' didnt translate as well to the gym as he would have liked and instead of taking the opportunity to improve his skills or even to communicate with us what his problems are he instead went running home to have a cry and start running his mouth on the internet.

anyways to sum up john = good. andrew = douchebag

Had to sit next to him while Eddie was explaining a technique, and felt physically sick from his gasping and wheezing.

Also probably didn't give John enough credit earlier, ive only herd good things about him, my mate Joesef trains there and always has the highest praise for John and all his guys, Infact this has made me want to train there more often!

I think everybody is being a bit harsh.

He seems like a dude with social issues who has a skewed perspective of what martial arts should be. Somebody before posted a thread about what a traditional martial artist might think when he trains at your gym, I don't think this dude is any different. Jiujitsu isn't for everybody and I don't slight anybody who doesn't get that this shit is supposed to hurt or that it is a dynamic art that requires time, repetition, and hard work.

I know that Andrew posted with his intentions of shaming a local gym and that nobody here thinks highly of him for it but I'm not one to just poke fun of a socially awkward guy who doesn't like to get hurt.
